"We hope you will take us back": Belarusian occupiers captured in Ukraine recorded an appeal to Lukashenko. Video
Citizens of Belarus who fought on the side of the Russian occupiers against Ukraine appealed to Minsk dictator Alexander Lukashenko. Two prisoners of war asked the self-proclaimed president to take them home.
The occupying Belarusians are surprised why they are not being exchanged. This was reported on Telegram by the I Want to Live project (scroll to the bottom of the page to watch the video).
The occupants, Maksim Zyuziunchik and Andrey Gerilovich, fought as mercenaries against Ukraine. They have been in captivity since autumn 2022.
The invaders are asking to exchange them for Ukrainian prisoners of war, who may be in the territory of Belarus or the Russian Federation. In addition, the occupier asked Lukashenko to even consider the possibility of exchanging them for political prisoners.
"I don't know how much we are already yours, but I hope that you will take us back, that you will not forget us. We did something wrong somewhere, we have our own ideology. If you need us, we ask that this exchange take place as soon as possible," the captured Belarusian addressed the dictator.
On 7 August, Ukraine managed to bring home 22 more of its defenders. These are Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who took part in battles in different areas. The oldest of them is 54 years old, the youngest is 23.
Earlier it was reported that the last exchange of prisoners took place on 6 July. Our country was able to return home 45 more people, as well as two children aged 6 and 10, who were illegally taken to Russia by the occupiers.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, said that the Ukrainian side cannot disclose statistics on how many Ukrainian soldiers were captured by the aggressor country or how many Russian occupiers are prisoners of war of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is due to the process of preparing the next exchanges.
