The administration of US President Joe Biden says it is making "continuous efforts" to help Ukraine in the face of Russia's new offensive in the Kharkiv region. The White House is working "around the clock" to deliver military aid to the country.

At a briefing in Washington on May 17, White House Counselor John Kirby said that the US administration is closely monitoring the actions of Russian troops in the Kharkiv region. His words were quoted by the Ukrinform news agency.

"We are closely monitoring Russia's offensive in northeastern Ukraine and working around the clock to get weapons and equipment into the hands of the Ukrainian military to help them repel these attacks," Kirby said.

The White House spokesman reminded that Biden ordered specific military assistance packages to the Ukrainian Defense Forces immediately after he signed the law with additional funding.

Since then (April 2024), Washington has allocated two packages to Kyiv under presidential authority and another $6 billion through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which will be used to purchase new weapons from manufacturers for Ukraine.

In addition, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during his visit to Kyiv this week, announced another $2 billion aid package under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.

As reported, the State Department said that the new aid from the United States would lead to real changes on the battlefield in Ukraine. After a long break, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have already begun to receive American military aid.
