The US media reports that the United States may provide the Ukrainian Defense Forces with a new type of weapon - medium-range Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) cruise missiles. They can be attached to F-16 fighter jets that are already in service with the Ukrainian army.

This was reported by Politico, citing sources. The Joint Standoff Weapon missiles may be included in a new $375 million military aid package from Washington, which, according to journalists, will be announced by the White House next week.

As noted, the Joint Standoff Weapon, which is used by the US Air Force and Navy, as well as a number of allies, can hit targets at a distance of more than 112 km.

"The new missiles, while not having the reach that Kyiv has been asking for, will still give Ukrainian pilots a powerful new weapon as their forces battle advancing Russian troops in the country’s east, where Ukrainian troops have been slowly losing ground. The 70-plus-mile range would allow pilots to stay away from the front lines and Russian air defenses, giving Kyiv a new way to target those defenses and frontline weapons depots, complicating operations for Russian forces," the article says.

As a reminder, a number of US media outlets have reported that the US presidential administration is probably preparing to announce a large military aid package worth $375 million for Ukraine next week. However, the delivery may be postponed due to a lack of stocks in the Pentagon's warehouses.

The package, according to journalists, may include air defense systems and artillery, which are desperately needed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the Air Force Command to increase the number of F-16 fighters in the country. He also ordered to speed up the training of pilots to operate these aircraft.

It was also reported that Denmark would transfer the next batch of F-16s to Ukraine by the end of the year. The number and specific terms were not disclosed, but in general, this country promised to provide 19 aircraft to the defenders of our country.
