Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their assault operations south of Bakhmut and hold a foothold on the left bank of the Kherson region. The soldiers are also holding the defense of Avdiivka, where the enemy launched 35 attacks the day before, all of which were repelled.

Over the last day, 95 combat engagements took place in all sectors of the frontline. This is stated in the morning operational report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The General Staff said that over the past day, the invaders launched 28 missile and 27 air strikes, as well as fired 59 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and settlements.

There were casualties and injuries among civilians, and residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Petropavlivka, Podoly, Ivanivka, Pershotravneve in Kharkiv region; Nadiya, Nevske, Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk region; Kolodyazi, Serebryanka, Chasiv Yar, Avdiivka, Lastochkino in Donetsk region were hit by air strikes.

More than 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

There were 95 combat engagements in the frontline over the last day.

The operational situation remains unchanged in the area of responsibility of the "North" jawed group in the Volyn and Polissya sectors.

There are no major changes in the Siversky and Slobozhansky sectors: the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of our troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

Meanwhile, in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Joint Forces Operation Center in the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka, northeast of Petropavlivka and Ivanivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Spirne, Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut sector, our troops repelled 13 enemy attacks in the areas of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Andriivka in Donetsk region. Ukrainian defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, and consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade in the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Our soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. The defense forces successfully repelled 35 enemy attacks in the areas east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenke and Pervomayske in Donetsk region.

In the Mariinsky sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobeda and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, where our defenders repelled 24 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, the Defense Forces repelled all enemy attacks that tried to regain lost ground in areas west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region.

At the same time, in the Melitopol sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire front line.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Joint Task Force in the Kherson sector, the Defense Forces continue to hold their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, continue to conduct counter-battery combat, and inflict fire on the enemy's rear.

Missile troops struck 6 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 1 enemy electronic warfare station. Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed 14 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles.

Earlier, British intelligence explained why the occupiers are attacking Snake Island. By attacking the island, which has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance, Russia is trying to demonstrate that it can project power across the Black Sea.

The last attack ended badly for the occupiers. On December 5, the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down an enemy Su-24 bomber near Snake Island. The enemy aircraft tried to launch a missile and bomb attack on the south of Odesa region. The bomber's crew was killed.
