Ukrainian Defense Forces conduct offensive in Melitopol sector, 70 combat engagements took place in the frontline over the last day - General Staff

Ukrainian defense forces continue offensive operations in the Melitopol sector and assault operations south of Bakhmut, as well as hold positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson sector. Ukrainian defenders are inflicting losses and depleting the enemy along the entire front line. At the same time, the occupants are attacking at the Kupyansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Maryinka, Shakhtarsk and Zaporizhzhia directions; 70 combat engagements took place at the front during the day.

This is stated in the operational summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, released on the morning of November 21, the 636th day of the large-scale Russian invasion.

Situation at the front

In the Kupyansk sector, in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia separate military unit, the enemy conducted assault operations in the areas of Sinkivka and east of Petropavlivka in Kharkiv region, where the Defense Forces repelled ten attacks.

In the Lyman sector, the occupants did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions during the day.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 20 enemy attacks in the areas of Klishchiyivka, Andriivka and east of Pivdenne, Donetsk region. Our soldiers are also continuing assault operations south of Bakhmut in Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, and consolidating their positions.

In the Avdiivka sector, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria Brigade, the occupants are continuing their attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers are holding steadfast and inflicting significant losses on the enemy. The enemy's offensive actions east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region were unsuccessful, where the Defense Forces repelled ten attacks, the General Staff informed.

In the Maryinka sector , the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the areas of Maryinka, Pobeda and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, where the defense forces repelled 12 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations near Staromayorske, Donetsk region, where our defenders repelled two attacks.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the enemy conducted assault operations near Robotyne and northwest of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region, but failed.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue their offensive in the Melitopol sector, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, exhausting them along the entire front line.

In the Kherson sector, in the area of responsibility of the Odesa Joint Task Force, the Defense Forces continue to hold their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro, conducting counter-battery combat and inflicting fire damage on the enemy's rear.

In the area of responsibility of the "North" operational and strategic grouping of troops in the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of our troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

Russian shelling

The Russian Federation continues to ignore the laws and customs of warfare, uses terror tactics, launches missile and air strikes, and fires from multiple launch rocket systems not only at military but also at civilian targets, the General Staff said.

Over the past day, the enemy launched 5 missile and 10 air strikes, fired 20 MLRS attacks at the positions of our troops and populated areas, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries, as well as the destruction and damage to private homes and other civilian infrastructure.

In particular, at night, Russia used four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, an Iskander-K cruise missile, and 11 Shaheds. Air defense forces destroyed one missile and ten UAVs. A hospital in the town of Selydove, Donetsk region, the building of the Kotlyarevska mine and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Kostobobriv, Chernihiv region, and Seredyna-Buda, Sumy region, were hit by air strikes.

More than 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.

Ukrainian Armed Forces inflicted losses on the occupants

Over the past day, the aviation of the Defense Forces carried out two strikes on the areas of concentration of the Russian occupation forces.

Units of the Ukrainian missile forces hit an enemy ammunition depot.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, according to the General Staff, Russia's losses at the front amounted to 610 people over the past day. In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 26 units of military equipment and weapons of the occupiers.
