Ukrainian defenders shot down record 71 Russian drones in 6 regions

During a drone attack by Russian forces on November 25, Russian troops launched about 75 Iranian kamikaze drones at Ukraine. The defenders of the Ukrainian sky shot down 71 of them.

The vast majority of air targets were directed at Kyiv. Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about the results of the night attack and the work of air defense forces.

"This night, on November 25, 2023, the enemy launched a record number of attack UAVs at Ukraine! The main direction of the attack was Kyiv! About 75 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs were launched and 71 were destroyed by air defense! Thank you all for your defense last night! I thank the combat work of the mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces in particular. They accounted for almost 40% of the targets destroyed!" he said.

According to the Air Force, 75 enemy attack drones were launched from two directions: Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk region, Russia. The enemy chose the city of Kyiv as the main target.

"Air defense was operating in at least six regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kropyvnytskyi. Anti-aircraft missile troops, tactical aviation, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the air attack," the Air Force said.

As a result of the anti-aircraft battle last night, the Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, destroyed 71 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs. The vast majority of them were destroyed in the Kyiv region. An X-59 guided missile was also destroyed in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Ukrainian soldiers shot down more than 55 Iranian kamikaze drones in the Northern Operational Zone alone. This was reported by the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Naiev.

"Today, during an enemy air attack in the Northern Operational Zone, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 55 enemy Shahed-type attack drones. Of these, 28 UAVs were destroyed by mobile air defense fire groups equipped with large-caliber machine guns, man-portable air defense systems and anti-aircraft guns," Naiev noted.

He added that seven enemy attack drones were destroyed in the sky over the Sumy region, four in the Chernihiv region, and 17 Shaheds were eliminated over the Kyiv region.

Another drone was destroyed by air defense forces over the Cherkasy region.

"Saturday in Cherkasy region began with an alarm at 5.30 am. At dawn, our defenders destroyed an enemy drone in the sky over the Cherkasy region. The wreckage fell in an open area. Windows were smashed in several neighboring houses. There were no casualties. That night, the enemy launched a record number of attack UAVs at Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force will soon report on the results of combat operations. They are the best!" said Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.

The Kyiv City Military Administration called the night attack the most massive in the last month and said that more than 60 drones were destroyed over the capital.

"During the most massive air attack on Kyiv with UAVs, the air defense forces and means shot down more than six dozen air targets! I thank the air defense soldiers for their work!" said Serhiy#i Popko, head of the RMA.

Meanwhile, the Southern Operational Command reported the downing of enemy attack drones over Mykolaiv and Kropyvnytskyi regions. They also stated that the occupiers tried to plan the route of the drones in such a way that they would fly over the temporarily occupied territory of our country as long as possible.

"During a nighttime drone attack, air defense units of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed three Shahed-131/136 drones: one in the Mykolaiv region and two in the Kropyvnytskyi region. There were no hits in our area of responsibility. The enemy made maximum use of the temporarily occupied territories to send drones. The priority of targets in the capital region is obvious," the South command noted.

As a reminder, on the night of November 25, Russia attacked the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, with attack drones for several hours.
