Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled Russian attacks in the east and continue counter-offensive in the south: over 30 combat engagements took place - General Staff
Over 30 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defence Forces and Russian occupation forces took place at the frontline in Ukraine over the last day. Our defenders successfully repelled the enemy's offensive at the Lyman, Bakhmut and Maryinka directions.
At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues its counter-offensive in the Melitopol sector, consolidating its positions and carrying out counter-battery operations. This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook on 29 August.
Russian shelling and the situation at the front
Over the past day, the enemy launched 5 missile and 47 air strikes, and fired 48 times from multiple rocket launchers at the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, the Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed.
On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Udiv and Zybyno in Kharkiv region. It fired mortar and artillery shells at more than 20 settlements, including Seredyna-Buda, Popivka, Kindrativka, Volodymyrivka in Sumy region and Ogurtsove, Karaitske, Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyansk sector, the enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Pervomaiske, Kyslivka, Kupyansk in Kharkiv region. The settlements of Figolovka, Dvorichna, Sinkivka, Kurylivka, Kyslivka, Kotlyarivka in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Novoyehorivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. It carried out air strikes in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, Novoyehorivka and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Spirne in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities came under enemy artillery fire, including Novoyehorivka in the Luhansk region and Yampil, Siversk, Verkhnekamyane, Torske, Spirne in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Bohdanivka and Ozaryanivka in the Donetsk region. He carried out air strikes in the areas of Klishchiyivka, Druzhba and Pivdenne in the Donetsk region. More than 25 localities suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Druzhba in Donetsk Oblast.
In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy launched an air strike near Avdiivka, fired artillery and mortars at the localities of Keramik, Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Siverse, Pervomayske in Donetsk Oblast.

In the Maryinka sector, Ukrainian defence forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the vicinity of Maryinka, Donetsk region. The enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka in the Donetsk region. The localities of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiivka, Kurakhove, Peremoha, and Yelizavetivka in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.
In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted air strikes near Staromayorsk in the Donetsk region. Vuhledar, Prechistivka, Zolota Niva, Velyka Novosilka, Blagodatne, Urozhayne in Donetsk Oblast suffered from enemy artillery shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhya sector, the enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Zaliznychne and Ivove in Zaporizhzhya region. More than 20 localities suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Shcherbaki, Stepove, Pyatikhatky, Kamianske, Plavne, Lukyanivske in Zaporizhzhia region.

Occupants' losses over the day
During the day, the aviation of the defence forces carried out 7 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and 4 on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems.
During the day, missile and artillery units struck 1 area of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and the enemy's TOS-1A "Solntsepek" heavy flamethrower system.
Also, according to the General Staff, the occupiers continue to force passports on the population of the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region. In the village of Mykhaylivka, Skadovsk district, Kherson region, Russian invaders are oppressing local residents who refuse to receive Russian passports. Because of the refusal to issue an enemy passport, the occupiers raid homes, conduct humiliating inspections, and threaten imprisonment and deportation.

- During the offensive in Zaporizhzhia region, the Ukrainian defence forces succeeded not only in the village of Robotyne, which was liberated from the enemy, but also in the area south of Mala Tokmachka. The occupiers are on the defensive on this and the Kherson frontline.
