The offensive of Russian troops in the Kursk region has been stopped. Part of its territory remains under the control of the Ukrainian military.

This was stated by a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commandant's Office Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi in a commentary to AFP. He noted that the Russian army tried to attack the positions of Ukrainian units from the flanks. However, these attempts were stopped.

"The Russians did have some successes: "Russians entered one of the settlements. They started fighting for another settlement, but that's all," Dmytrashkivskyi added.

He also said that there are still many civilians in the part of Kursk region controlled by Ukraine. In some settlements, there are more than a hundred or even more than 500 residents.

"In some settlements, there are more than 100 people, in some more than 200, and in some places more than 500," Dmytrashkivskyi said.

Russia has also not said how many of its civilians remain in the Kyiv-controlled areas of Kursk, saying only that about 130,000 have fled. According to Dmytrashkivskyi, food is being brought to the area from Ukraine's neighboring Sumy region.

"Sumy regional state administration allocates funds for bread every week. The armed forces provide water, and the administration gives out food packages. Nothing works there, neither shops nor pharmacies, nothing," he said.

According to the representative of the Ukrainian commandant's office, 23 civilians were killed as a result of Russian strikes on the seized territories of the Kursk region. Dmytrashkivskyi said that they "are dying together with the Ukrainian military."

In addition, it has become known that the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are participating in the operation in the Kursk region (Russia), continue to replenish the exchange fund. One day they surrendered 13 Russian soldiers who had been trying to shoot back for five days.
