Ukrainian troops entered another district of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The Defense Forces have made advances in the Veseloye area of Glushkovsky district, and there were also reports of fighting near the towns of Novy Put and Medvezhye.

Ukrainians are also advancing in the Sudzha area, while the Russian command has moved units of Wagner mercenaries operating in Africa to Kursk region. This is stated in the analytical material of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Ukrainian forces have recently advanced in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region, located west of the Korenevsky district, where Ukrainian troops are already operating. On September 13, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continued to be attacked in the Glushkovsky district.

ISW analysts found geolocation footage from September 13 confirming the advance of Ukrainian troops south of Veseloye (three kilometers from the Ukrainian-Russian border).

At the same time, some Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces attacked southwest of Glushkovo in the areas of Novy Put, Veseloye, and Medvezhye (east of Veseloye), although one Russian "military commander" denied that Ukrainian troops had entered Veseloye.

At the same time, both Ukrainians and Russians are making advances in Korenivka district.

According to geolocation footage from September 12, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are advancing in the northeastern part of Cherkasskoye-Porechnoye (located north of Sudzha). At the same time, other geolocation footage confirms the capture of the village of Snagost (south of Korenevo) by Russian troops. However, the claims of Russian propagandists that Russian troops have regained control of Pokrovsk and Obukhovka (southeast of Korenevo) have not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Russian military bloggers claim that the Russians made advances in the southern part of Ruska Konopelka (east of Sudzha) and west of Liubimovka (southeast of Korenevo). Instead, Ukrainian forces reportedly advanced northeast of Pogrebky (north of Sudzha) and east of Korenevo, and continued to advance near Obukhovka, Olgovka (both east of Korenevo), and near Kamyshevka, Borki, and Fanaseevka (north and southeast of Sudzha).

The Russians also claimed that the Russian army counterattacked on the Liubimovka-Tolsty Lug-Daryne line (three kilometers from the border with Sumy region) and allegedly liberated Krasnooktyabrskoye.

At the same time, citing CNN, analysts noted that the Russian command had deployed Wagnerites to Kursk region, who had previously probably been operating in Africa. These forces are better equipped and trained than the Russian regular army units operating in the Kursk region. According to ISW's assumptions, this could either be personnel from the Russian Africa Corps or the private military company Medved Brigade, which reportedly arrived from Africa after the start of the Ukrainian army's operation in Kursk.

In total, at least two battalions from the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade and units of the 106th Airborne Division of the 51st Airborne Regiment and 173rd Reconnaissance Battalion are currently operating in Kursk.

Units of the Russian 56th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Airborne Division are reportedly operating in Vishnyovka and Komarovka, both southwest of Korenevo.

Units of the 51st Airborne Regiment were spotted in the area of Snagosti, Krasnooktyabrskoye and Apanasivka (south of Korenevo).

Units of the Aida Chechen special forces unit of the Akhmat special forces are operating near Sudzha, and Kadyrov's troops from the 204th Regiment were spotted in Cherkasskoye-Porechnoye.

Also, units of the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are involved in the fighting in Kursk region.

Earlier, ISW stated that the Russian army would be forced to redeploy troops from other areas to Kursk region to counter the Ukrainian army. The forces currently concentrated in the region are poorly trained.

At the same time, AFU's Kursk operations thwarted a possible Russian offensive in Sumy region.
