Ukrainian Armed Forces continue offensive at Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidate on achieved lines - General Staff

As of 24 July, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue their offensive in the Melitopol and Berdiansk sectors. Our soldiers are consolidating their positions at the achieved lines, inflicting artillery fire on the identified enemy targets, and carrying out counter-battery measures.

This was reported by the General Staff in a daily update on Facebook. At the same time, our military warns that the likelihood of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.

"Over the last day, the enemy launched one missile and 58 air strikes, fired more than 26 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among children and civilians, and the port infrastructure and grain storage facilities in southern Ukraine, residential buildings and other infrastructure have been destroyed and damaged," the Defence Forces said in a statement.

The enemy regularly continues mortar and artillery shelling in all directions it can hit. In particular, the following areas are under attack:

• in the Kupyansk sector, air strikes were recorded near Terny, Vilshana, Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region. Artillery and mortar attacks by the enemy were recorded near Krasne Pershe, Figolovka, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Kupyansk, and Vidradne in the Kharkiv region;

• in the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Lyman, Yampol, Siversk, Spirne, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk region. Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhnekamyane, Spirne and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire;
• in the Bakhmut sector, our defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas northwest of Orikhove-Vasylivka, south of Ivanivske and west of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Diliyivka and Predtechyno in the Donetsk region. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Vasyukivka, Orikhove-Vasylivka, Markove, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region;
• in the Avdiivka sector, under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, our defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops near Pervomaisk, Donetsk region. The enemy launched air strikes near Novokalynove, Avdiivka and Nevelske in Donetsk region. At the same time, it shelled more than 10 localities, including Avdiivka, Lastochkine, Vodiane, Pervomayske and Karlivka in Donetsk region;

• in the Maryinka sector, Ukrainian defence forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka in Donetsk region. The enemy fired at more than 10 localities, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Peremoha, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka in the Donetsk region;
• in the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Rivne, Donetsk region. It fired at more than 10 localities, including Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Blahodatne in the Donetsk region;
• in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy is focusing its main efforts on preventing further advance of our troops, and has launched air strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhove, Lobkove in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 30 localities came under artillery fire, including Gulyaypole, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaki, Stepnohrysk in Zaporizhzhia region; Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Kachkarivka, Kozache in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

The situation is difficult for residents of the temporarily occupied territories. In the best traditions of the "Russian world", the invaders loot and evict people from their own homes, and occupy even such harmless institutions as kindergartens and schools.

"In the village of Radensk in the Kherson region, Russian soldiers have converted the territory of a local kindergarten into a field hospital. Dozens of wounded occupants are being treated there," the General Staff said.

However, our military do not leave the enemy without a fair response. Over the past day, Ukrainian missile and artillery units hit four control points, three air defence facilities, nine artillery pieces at firing positions and four occupiers' electronic warfare stations.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, "many different events are planned for the next week, which will definitely strengthen Ukrainian defence," President Zelenskyy said. In connection with the massive attack by the Russian Armed Forces on Odesa, the head of state stressed that the main target of the occupiers is humanity and the foundations of our entire European culture.
