The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed three enemy aircraft in eastern Ukraine: Oleshchuk reveals details

On the morning of February 17, units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine inflicted serious losses on enemy aircraft. Ukrainian soldiers in the east of the country destroyed three enemy aircraft at once.

Two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 fighter jet were flying away. This was reported by Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.

"On the morning of February 17, 2024, in the eastern direction, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed three enemy aircraft at once – two Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 fighter! Nothing will stop us! Thank you, warriors! Together – to victory!" the Air Force commander wrote.

Oleshchuk also noted that the Russians, as always, claim that "there is no loss." Propaganda Telegram channels reported that the "success" in Avdiivka was "overshadowed" by the loss of one Su-35 aircraft, while the rest allegedly returned to their base unharmed.

"Let me remind you that the Su-35S is a single-seat aircraft, while the Su-34 is a two-seat aircraft. According to radio intercepts, one pilot was found, and the others are being 'searched'! Something doesn't add up here, does it?" said Oleshchuk.

He informed that there is an international satellite search and rescue system called Kospas-Sarsat, which notifies the pilots' personal radio beacons of their location in case of accidents.

"As you can see, the system is working! In the photo, four Cospas-Sarsats (dots on the map) were triggered – look for "brothers" in these areas! No thanks!" the commander said.

As a reminder, on the night of February 17, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Avdiivka. He explained the decision by the desire to prevent encirclement and save the lives of soldiers.

Meanwhile, ISW assessed the situation in Avdiivka. Analysts do not confirm the Russian statements about the chaotic withdrawal of the Defense Forces and the huge losses they suffered during the withdrawal from the city. ISW considers the withdrawal of the Defense Forces to be quite organized.

At the same time, the Russians are trying to prevent the withdrawal of Ukrainian soldiers and inflict maximum losses on them, because the capture of Avdiivka does not give Russia any significant operational advantages.

Instead, some Russian propagandists have complained about the enormous losses of Putin's troops in Avdiivka: "many times more" invaders were killed near this small town in the Ukrainian Donbas than Russia destroyed in the meaty assaults on Bakhmut.

Therefore, as the hackers found out, the Russian Defense Ministry Department, headed by Konashenkov, the author of the "no losses" meme, is making every effort to hide the real cost of the Pyrrhic victory with the capture of Avdiivka.
