Ukraine needs missiles with a range of 100 km and more: Zelenskyy names the main issue for Ramstein-11

Ukraine will ask for long-range missiles, shells and aircraft at Ramstein 11

At the upcoming meeting of defence ministers of the partner countries in the Ramstein format, Ukraine will ask its allies for long-range missiles of 100 km or more. In addition, the Ukrainian army needs shells of various calibres and aircraft.

This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on the Kyiv TV channel on Thursday, April 20. According to him, long-range missiles are a key tool for destroying the occupiers' logistics (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

Ukraine will also raise the issue of fighter jets for the army again. Negotiations on such assistance are ongoing.

"First of all, we will talk about long-range missiles. This is a key tool that will allow us to work out Russia's logistical support in a preventive manner. That is, missiles with a range of 100 km or more. This is the priority that will be discussed at Ramstein. The second priority is shells. We need 155-mm, 152-mm, 122-mm and 105-mm shells. Obviously, they will also discuss accelerating the supply of armoured vehicles' reimbursement kits. And the aviation component - it is constantly on various negotiation platforms," Podolyak said.

He stressed that negotiations on certain types of weapons for the Ukrainian Defence Forces are ongoing. The meeting in the Ramstein format, he said, is an audit of what has been done and what needs to be done in the future.

"Participants will summarise what has already been provided, taking into account new military assistance packages that countries periodically announce. Yesterday was the United States of America, and we expect similar packages from other countries, including Spain, for example. This is the first component of any Ramstein. The second component is an assessment of the resource capabilities of the Russian Federation - what they have, what they use, what they have built in terms of occupied fortifications," the advisor to the head of the OP added.

The next, 11th meeting in the Ramstein format will take place in Germany on Friday, April 21. Ukraine's Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine's priorities will remain unchanged. These include air defence systems, including combat aircraft, armoured vehicles and 155-calibre heavy artillery shells.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- On the eve of Ramstein, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi had a telephone conversation with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe Christopher Cavoli. They discussed the priority needs of the Ukrainian army for weapons, equipment and ammunition.

- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was preparing as much as possible for the 11th meeting in the Ramstein format. The prospects for such a summit are healthy and bode well for fruitful results, not only for our country but for the entire anti-war coalition.
