Ukraine may receive F-16 fighters in 2-3 months - former Polish Army commander
Ukraine may receive F-16 fighters in 2-3 months. Ukrainian pilots are already ready to operate them.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by a Polish expert, former commander of the Polish Army, General Waldemar Skrzypczak. He is convinced that the only thing that needs to be done now is to decide which countries the aircraft will come from.
Skrzypczak believes that Ukraine is at a stage where "Ukrainian pilots are almost ready to use F-16s in combat". According to the general, F-16s could be transferred to the United States, and F-18s, which have also been discussed recently, are also very good in operation.
The military also noted that to launch a counter-offensive, Ukrainians should not wait for the delivery of F-16s, but start acting.
"Ukraine has received MiG-29s and will cope with the first stage of the counter-offensive. The first strike should be launched now," the general is convinced.
He believes that "something must happen before the NATO summit that will show: Ukraine is worthy of trust". stressed that our country must prove that, thanks to the significant support of the West, it is able to defeat a part of the Russian army in Ukraine.
"This is the argument that (President Volodymyr - ed.) Zelenskyy should put on the table in front of Stoltenberg in Vilnius on 11-12 July. It is very important that the Ukrainian people are waiting for this," Skrzypczak stated.
As a reminder, the Pentagon said that the next meeting of donors of military aid to Ukraine in the Ramstein format will be held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on June 15. The heads of the defence ministries of our country's allies intend to discuss the creation of a coalition of combat aircraft called the Ukraine's Sky Shield.
