Ukraine has developed a Sting drone capable of intercepting Shaheds: what is known

Ukraine has developed a drone interceptor of "Shaheds"

Ukrainian inventors have created an FPV drone capable of intercepting Shahed drones of Iranian origin launched by Russian troops. The anti-drone is called Sting and can fly faster than 160 km/h and at an altitude of about three kilometers.

The developer is the Wild Hornets group, and work on the technology is still ongoing. This was reported by The Telegraph, publishing a photo and the first details of what the Ukrainian Shahad hunter would look like.

"The new weapon will be deployed to pursue and intercept the Shahed-136 instead of conventional air defense munitions to protect Ukrainian cities from Russian strikes," the newspaper writes.

The Sting is described as a classic quadcopter design with a large dome protruding upward from its center, where a warhead and camera are installed. It will be piloted from the ground using VR goggles that allow the drone operator to see exactly where it is flying.

It is noted that future development will have an artificial intelligence targeting system that will allow the pilot to guide the drone to enemy targets.

UAVs with similar functions have been used by Ukrainian soldiers to intercept Russian reconnaissance drones flying high and slow over the battlefield, collecting intelligence for artillery and missile units of the Russian Armed Forces.

However, experts emphasize that the Sting will be the first drone specifically designed to target Iranian-developed Shahed drones launched by Russian troops.

Wild Hornet developers say that the cost of the Sting is ten times lower than the cost of the Shahed for the Russians.

"It is hoped that by using inexpensive kamikaze drones to destroy Shahed drones, Ukraine will be able to preserve its stockpile of air defense missiles," the publication says.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Ukrainian developers of the Brave1 cluster have created a reusable Hummel bomber drone that can carry a weight of up to 2 kg over a distance of up to 20 km. It is successfully used by the Defense Forces in various parts of the frontline.
