Ukraine does not consider deployment of NATO troops in the country: Zelenskyy's office explains the reason

Ukraine welcomes all initiatives aimed at strengthening our security

Currently, Ukraine is not considering the possibility of deploying NATO troops on its territory. Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva explained that this would require at least a corresponding decision.

He made this statement on the air of the United News TV marathon. Zhovkva noted that Ukraine welcomes all initiatives aimed at strengthening our security.

"All initiatives that contribute to the security of Ukraine are welcomed by Ukraine... Of course, today we are not talking about the Armed Forces of France or other countries on the territory of Ukraine for one reason: this requires an appropriate decision," he said.

The representative of the Presidential Administration also noted that all the countries considering sending troops are NATO members, and Ukraine is not currently a member of the Alliance.

As a reminder, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said that NATO members should not reject the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine. In her opinion, Western countries, including the United States, should not be completely against this idea.

As reported, earlier, the White House commented on the information that the EU countries are discussing the possibility of sending their troops to Ukraine. They said that they would not object to the proposals of other NATO countries to deploy their troops in Ukraine and emphasized that this is a sovereign decision of each country.
