Too early to draw conclusions: the Pentagon commented on the AFU counterattack

The AFU is looking for weaknesses in the enemy's defence lines

It is too early to draw conclusions about the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukrainian defenders are trying to find weaknesses in the defense of the enemy, the Russian invaders.

U.S. Pentagon deputy chief of political affairs Colin Kahl said this at a briefing on Friday, July 7.

"It's too early to draw conclusions about the Ukrainian counteroffensive. We are now at the beginning of the middle phase. The Ukrainians are trying to find weaknesses in the Russian defense line," Kahl said.

He stressed that the main test will begin when the AFU finds such weaknesses.

As a reminder, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defense Ministry's GUR, also commented on the Ukrainian counterattack. According to him, there will be successes with time.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the pace of the Ukrainian counter-offensive is affected by the fact that the allies delayed the supply of weapons and the occupiers were given time to create a multi-level defense and mine vast areas.

Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that he was "infuriated" by complaints about the pace of the counteroffensive. According to him, despite the difficulties, our soldiers are advancing at least 500 meters every day, and every meter is fought through blood. In order to speed up the advance, it is necessary to strengthen the military assistance.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said that the Ukrainian army is doing the impossible as part of the counterattack, but requires much more weaponry.

According to Danilov, the number one task for the Ukrainian military now is the maximum destruction of the enemy's manpower, weapons, equipment, fuel, command posts and air defense. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are acting calmly and deliberately, liberating territories step by step.

According to the ISW report, Ukrainian forces conducted counteroffensive operations in at least three sections of the front on July 6 and are gradually destroying Russian manpower and logistics.
