Ukrainian soldiers continue their operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. Advancing through Russian territory, the defenders are carrying out a "gentle Ukrainization" of this region, where the vast majority of the population used to be ethnic Ukrainians.

In particular, after some minor "tuning", a Russian village called "Liubimovka" turned into a completely Ukrainian Liubymivka. The defenders themselves showed how it happened on the Telegram channel of the Black Swan Brigade 225th Special Forces Group.

"Liubymivka is free! Video after clearing the settlement from Russian soldiers," the soldiers captioned the footage.

In the video, a Ukrainian soldier uses a spray can of black paint to paint the letter "i" in the name of the village, replacing the white letter "o" that was there before.

The sign also shows an image of the blue and yellow flag of Ukraine: the soldiers made it with two colors of tape.

The fighters also called on Ukrainians to support the Black Swan unit financially and thus bring Ukraine's victory closer. This can be done with the help of Monobank or through PrivatBank.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military told the WSJ about the details of the breakthrough into the Kursk region. According to the defenders, they "expected stiffer resistance" from the so-called second army of the world.

It was also reported that the day before, Kyiv had officially recognized the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation for the first time, and the head of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that as of August 12, the Armed Forces controlled about 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk region.

Meanwhile, ISW stated that despite Russia's statements, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to shift the responsibility for the situation in the region to the Russian military and government officials and has publicly declared his refusal to negotiate with Kyiv.

At the same time, the SBU warned that the enemy could stage crimes against civilians in Kursk region, and the Center for Public Policy analyzed what fakes Russians are spreading because of the events in Kursk region.
