In recent days, the intensity of fighting between the Russian occupiers and Ukrainian defenders has decreased in the Bakhmut direction. The reason for this is that Putin's army has been rotating.
This statement was made by the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces of the AFU Serhiy Cherevaty. He said this on the air of the all-Ukrainian telethon.
"In the Bakhmut direction the intensity of fighting decreased due to the fact that the enemy carried out rotations," Cherevaty said.
He specified that enemy units of airborne troops and motorized rifle units arrived there, understanding the scale of the Russian occupiers' losses.
"They saw the defeated Wagner units and are acting cautiously. There were attempts at counterattacks, but already much more cautious than Wagner did," explained a representative of the Eastern Group of Forces of the AFU.
Cherevaty added that over the past 24 hours on the Bakhmut direction the invaders attacked Ukrainian positions 389 times with artillery. There were also four engagements and two air raids. During the fighting, 69 invaders were destroyed and 43 more were wounded. In addition, one Putin's army soldier was taken prisoner.
As a reminder, the British Ministry of Defense stated that occupation troops of the aggressor country Russia suffered huge losses while trying to occupy the fortress city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. At least one occupant was killed or wounded for every 48 cm of territory seized.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden stated that Russia had lost over 100,000 troops in the battle for Bakhmut. The same figure was announced by the speaker of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby. According to him, since December 2022 alone, Russia has lost 100,000 troops in Bakhmut, including more than 20,000 killed.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, the occupant command has established a new procedure for the treatment of wounded Russian servicemen, according to which only officers are to be evacuated to the Russian Federation. Non-commissioned and enlisted personnel, regardless of the severity and complexity of their wounds, are to be treated in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
