The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a Russian intelligence agent who was preparing a new Russian air attack on the city of Kharkiv. To perform the hostile task, he drove around the territory of the city and covertly recorded the locations of the Defense Forces.

This was reported in the official Telegram-channel of the SSU. The enemy agent, who worked for the main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU), was also interested in the coordinates of railway junctions, where the unloading of military equipment and ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the defense of the city and Ukrainian soldiers on the front line.

In the course of such reconnaissance activities, the man also tried to obtain information about the work of strategically important industrial facilities, in particular, local aviation enterprises.

SSU officers detained an enemy agent "on the hot seat" while he was conducting additional reconnaissance of the area near one of Kharkiv's industrial facilities.

As it was found out, the Russian agent turned out to be a local resident who had come to the attention of the Russian security services because of his publications in social networks made after the start of the full-scale invasion.

During a search of the detainee's residence, cell phones and computer equipment were found, which he used to correspond with the special services of the aggressor country.

Based on the collected evidence, investigators of the Security Service informed the defendant of suspicion under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - high treason committed under martial law.

He is currently in custody. The investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The attacker may face life imprisonment.

The special operation was carried out by SSU officers in Rivne and Kharkiv regions under the guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.

The former head of the legal division of the Department for Civil Protection and Defense Work of the Kherson Regional State Administration supported the invaders at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and cooperated with them.
