"The situation is difficult, but under control." Budanov predicts when and where Putin's troops might attack
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, described the situation at the front as "difficult but controlled." He expects a new wave of Russian offensive in late May 2024.
Budanov shared his forecast in an interview with the German broadcaster ARD. "We expect Russia to intensify its offensive in late spring and early summer. Especially in the Donbas region," he said.
Budanov also predicted that the occupiers would "move a little closer to Chasiv Yar" and "move towards Pokrovsk, in the strategic direction of Pokrovsk."

At the same time, he does not expect any major changes at the front before the Russian offensive begins.
"The situation is quite complicated, but it is under control," the DIU chief said.
Despite the estimates of various military experts, Budanov also believes that a Ukrainian offensive is possible this year. However, he refused to speak more specifically about this, noting that it is within the competence of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

- Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko warned that Russia is preparing a new offensive for May-June 2024. According to him, the enemy will try to attack the positions of the Defense Forces all summer. Probable attacks by the occupiers are predictable, so there is no reason for panic, Kovalenko said.
