On the morning of September 8, an explosion was heard in Krivyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. A police building was destroyed, and more than ten more administrative buildings, a religious building, 17 apartments and 4 private houses, as well as more than four dozen cars, were damaged.
It is known about one dead and 59 wounded by 14:40. The search and rescue operation has been completed. It was reported the head of the Dnipropetrovsk RMA Serhiy Lysak.
"Explosions in Krivyi Rih. The missile hit the administrative building. 1 dead and 9 injured by now. 3 people were pulled out from under the rubble. Garages caught fire, covering 200 square meters. The information is being specified. Occupiers, burn in hell for the grief you sowed Ukraine with! We will not forgive you," Lysak wrote at 09:40.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko later clarified that the police building in the center of Kryvyi Rih was hit. It was destroyed.
"As a result of the Russian strike, a policeman was killed. Three more rescuers of the State Emergency Service were pulled out from under the rubble. They are in serious condition. 6 employees received injuries of varying degrees of severity. Rescuers extinguish a fire of 200 square meters," he said.
He added that nearby residential houses were also affected. Police are making apartment rounds to check the condition of the residents. Rescue operations are ongoing.
"We ask locals not to approach the place of work of emergency services for safety reasons", Klymenko said.
Subsequently, he published clarified information. The number of traumatized and injured exceeded 20 people as of 10:00.
"Just received clarified information: the number of injured as a result of the Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih has increased to 25 people as of 10:00," he said.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported 26 injured at 10:17.
"According to preliminary data, one person was killed and 26 were injured. A fire broke out. The blast wave and debris blew out windows in nearby apartment buildings and damaged cars and other civilian infrastructure. Rescue and search operations are ongoing. The exact number of victims is being established," the message reads.
The number of victims of the Russian missile attack on Krivyi Rih has increased to 32 people as of 10:40.
"Already 32 injured due to the missile attack in Krivyi Rih. Most are in a condition of average severity or 'satisfactory'. However, there are also 'heavy' cases. 3 administrative buildings are damaged. 7 residential buildings were hit, including a multi-story building. The fire that broke out in the garages has been localized. The inspection of the territory continues", Lysak said.
The head of the city's defense Council Oleksandr Vilkul, when being at the site, reported 41 injured and one dead at about 11:00.
"The elimination of the consequences of the strike continues. Unfortunately, one person is dead, 41 injured and 19 are now already in the hospital. Three of them, unfortunately, are in severe condition with polytraumas, they are all in the operating room. All headquarters have been deployed. Construction materials are being provided. Liquidation of the consequences of the missile attack continues," Vilkul said in a short video recorded from the site of the strike.
The Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine reported another increase in the number of victims at 11:00.
"Krivyi Rih. According to preliminary data, 1 person died and another 44 were injured as of 11:00. The State Emergency Service provided assistance to 68 persons in the point of psychological assistance. Work continues. All necessary services are working on the site," the message reads.
Lysak reported another increase in the number of victims at 12:38.
"There are now 52 injured in Kryvyi Rih. Three of them are 'heavy'. Rescuers extinguished the fire that broke out due to the missile strike. Utility services are working. They are removing the rubble, garbage and broken glass," he said.
According to the specified data, as a result of the strike 14 administrative buildings, a religious building, 17 apartments and 4 private houses, as well as more than four dozen cars, were damaged.
"Headquarters have been deployed on the spot. It is possible to get water, food, building materials. Those who were in the epicenter of events are provided with psychological assistance. More than 70 people needed it," Lysak wrote.
Klymenko reported the completion of the search and rescue operation in Kryvyi Rih at about 13:30.
"Search and rescue operations completed in Kryvyi Rih. It is known about 55 victims as of 13:30: 1 dead and 54 injured, it included 9 police officers. Additional police groups from neighboring regions have arrived in the city for reinforcement. Tents have been deployed near the site of the shelling, where specialists provide psychological assistance and mobile points for receiving applications from victims," the Minister of Internal Affairs said.
A pre-trial investigation for violation of the laws and customs of war, coupled with premeditated murder (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been initiated under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The State Service for Emergency Situations reported that a total of 59 people were injured in the attack as of 14:40.
According to Nikolaevsky Vaniok, Russian forces hit Kryvyi Rih with an Iskander-K missile.
Head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council Oleksandr Vilkul was the first to officially report the explosion in Kryvyi Rih. It was heard during the air alert.
"Krivyi Rih. Explosion. Do not film anything and do not post on the Internet," the message said.
The air raid alert in Krivyi Rih was announced at 08:57. The message about the explosion appeared on Vilkul's Telegram channel at 09:03.
"There is information on broken windows and heavy fire. All of you see the photos. Don't publish them. We are waiting for official information. The alarm is still ongoing", Svoi. Kryvyi Rih said in the message.
However, later some channels spread information about a strong fire at the place of the strike.
Russian troops struck a private sector in Sumy on September 8, there were three casualties. One of the houses was destroyed to the ground, several more were damaged.
The invaders also hit the city of Sumy the day before. The SSU reported that a Russian woman who adjusted the strikes on Sumy on September 7 was detained.
