The soldiers of the separate special regiment "Ranger" managed to capture 8 occupants and liberate their captured comrades. This happened after the enemy managed to break through to Ukrainian positions and occupy a dugout.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared the details of the operation. The task for our soldiers was to either destroy the enemy or force them to surrender.

"The soldiers together with the platoon commander quickly assessed the situation, determined the route, and developed an assault plan. The main problem was uncertainty: how many of them were there, what kind of weapons they had, were they being led by drones? Therefore, they decided to act decisively and in the most coordinated way possible," the statement said.

According to the General Staff, the scouts went to the forest belt. The drones carefully monitored the situation, and the commanders adjusted their actions in real time. Approaching the dugout, the group split up: the machine gunner and his partner stayed to provide cover, while the others entered the position from the flank. A powerful fire attack and the use of grenades forced the enemy to retreat in panic. The commander clearly offered the enemy to surrender.

"It is always more difficult than just destroying. We need to convince the enemy that surrender is the only reasonable way out," says the platoon commander, who goes by the call sign "Babak".

However, the enemy surrendered, but it became known that there were our prisoners among them. It is unknown how many of them there were. The "Rangers" acted clearly: they forced the occupiers to come out one by one without weapons and armor and counted 10 people along with ours.

"This created a new problem: there was not enough space in the 'box' for everyone. Some of the prisoners with escorts were sent immediately, while the rest were left under the protection of two soldiers. Ironically, they had to hide from Russian artillery fire in the dugout that was stormed a few hours ago," the statement said.

The operation was successful, and two Ukrainians were liberated.

"The main thing is to save the lives of our own and bring home those who are waiting for freedom. At such moments, you realize that every battle is not only a struggle for positions but also for the fate of people," emphasized Babak.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, soldiers of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign took an Egyptian citizen prisoner during an enemy assault in the Toretsk sector. To communicate with him, the defenders were forced to explain everything for a long time using gestures.
