The occupiers intentionally overestimate the effectiveness of Russian weapons: Ukrainians warned of another fake
Russian propagandists have begun to spread the fake that the Western weapons provided to Ukraine are being successfully neutralized by the Russian army. The same fate, according to them, is allegedly awaiting Western F-16 fighter jets.
Russian media outlets pick up this thesis with reference to American political scientist John Mearsheimer, who consistently repeats all the main Kremlin narratives. The Center for Countering Disinformation, which operates under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, refuted another "victory" of the "second army of the world" and the "world's best Russian air defense."
The Center for Countering Disinformation called the thesis that all Western weapons provided to Ukraine are neutralized by the Russian army, which is being spread by Russian state media, a lie.
"LIE: all Western weapons supplied to Ukraine are neutralized by the Russian army and the same fate awaits F-16 fighter jets in contact with Russian air defense. This commentary by American political scientist John Mearsheimer is being spread by pro-Kremlin resources," the Center for Public Affairs noted.
Russia has begun to spread such narratives primarily to undermine support for Ukraine from its Western partners.
"The supply of Western weapons and military equipment significantly strengthens the Ukrainian Defense Forces, which inflict losses on the Russian army. Although the loss of weapons and equipment is indeed a fact of life in any war, the statement that "all Western weapons are neutralized by the Russian army" is a lie aimed mainly at the Western audience. The purpose of such fakes is to establish the idea of the alleged "superiority of Russian weapons over Western ones" and discredit the support of Ukraine from partner states," the Center noted.
As for the "world's best Russian air defense system," it has shown its "power" by the fact that Ukrainian drones in the Russian Federation are "shot down" mainly not by air defense systems, but by military facilities and oil depots. And the Russians will have even more such "victories" in the future because, as the Center emphasized, Ukrainian pilots have been preparing and are preparing to counter Russian air defense during training on F-16s.
The personality and activities of the speaker cited by the propagandists deserve special attention.
"By the way, 'political scientist' Mirsheimer regularly promotes Russian narratives, in particular those related to the alleged 'provocation of Russia by the NATO bloc in Ukraine'," the Center added.
Indeed, Russian propagandists often quote this person, invariably presenting his statements as the position of the United States or all Western countries in general. Mearsheimer, who is a professor at the University of Chicago, systematically repeats all Kremlin narratives. He blames Russia's aggression against Ukraine on the West, which, he says, was accepting new countries into NATO, approaching Russia's borders, and thus "threatening" Russia's security. Therefore, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was "forced to respond" to the "threatening actions" of the North Atlantic Alliance.
On the other hand, the same speaker reveals the "treachery" of Ukraine, which "plans to invade Russia and drag NATO into a conflict."
At the same time, the "United States" and the "West" regularly voice the belief that Ukraine is doomed to defeat through Mearsheimer's mouth. This would be the 10th complete destruction of the Ukrainian army claimed by the Russians.
This Kremlin's pocket political analyst also has his own version of what Ukraine "must" do to end the war. Mearsheimer, who is often quoted by Russian propagandists, believes that our country must renounce its membership in the EU and NATO, sever any security ties with the West, be "on its own," and give up the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia. If our country does not accept Russia's ultimatums, Mearsheimer "predicts" that Russia will also seize Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions, where people are supposedly very fond of the terrorist state. It "will not go further" not because it cannot, but because of the disloyalty of the local population. However, according to Mearsheimer, Moscow will continue to destabilize Ukraine until it turns it into a "failed state."
Recently, as can be seen from the publications of Russian propagandists, Mearsheimer has become an "expert" on Western aviation and Russian air defense, actively saying that F-16s in the Ukrainian sky are not at all scary for the "second army of the world." Russian propaganda began to fiercely spread this after the delivery of the first Western jets were officially confirmed in Ukraine.
Earlier, the Center for Countering Disinformation exposed the lies of an American blogger who published fake SES photos from the ruins of the Okhmatdyt hospital bombed by Russia.
In particular, the blogger published one of the photos taken by SES showing children's toys in the ruins of the hospital and said that the toys were fake. According to him, they were "photoshopped" and the hospital was destroyed by the Ukrainians.
"This is worse than Zionist propaganda," the "expert" summarized.
