The occupiers demolished dozens of houses in Mariupol and are building mortgage housing for Russians in their place: the townspeople organized a rally. Video

Local residents left homeless

In Mariupol, residents are protesting against the actions of the occupiers, who demolished 21 houses in the neighborhood on Metalurhiv Avenue. In place of the demolished buildings, the Russian military began construction of mortgage housing intended for sale to Russians.

As a result, local residents were left homeless. This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.

People who lost their homes are forced to live in rented apartments, dormitories, or with relatives. They express their indignation at the lack of response from the local "prosecutor's office" and "administration" who ignore their complaints.

"Residents of the demolished houses continue to huddle in rented apartments, dormitories, dachas and with relatives. The prosecutor's office is inactive, and the administration avoids meetings or shrugs it off," people are outraged.

Over 460 houses have been demolished in Mariupol during the occupation, and the new housing under construction is unaffordable for residents due to high prices. The occupiers are changing the legal addresses of the demolished buildings, which complicates the situation for those who have been left homeless.

"Such protests are already becoming widespread. Mariupol residents are recording videos to somehow show the cynical attitude of the occupiers towards the citizens," the city council added.

As a reminder, a fatal incident occurred in the temporarily occupied Mariupol: a resident killed a Russian citizen who had occupied an apartment in their house without permission. However, the man's neighbors came to his defense, expressing outrage at the situation.

On September 26, five children exploded on an explosive device in an abandoned building. Some of the minors were hospitalized in serious condition, and several were transported to Donetsk for surgery.
