Troops of the aggressor country Russia launched a massive attack with Shahed-type kamikaze drones over the south of Odessa region of Ukraine on the night of September 4. Air defense forces shot down about 17 attack UAVs, but there were also hits on civilian infrastructure.
As of Monday morning, damage to business buildings, farm machinery and equipment was reported. Fortunately, there were no casualties, said the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration Oleg Kiper (to see the photo, scroll to the end of the news).
It should be noted that the air alert covered Odessa and neighboring regions at about 02:00. Then a group of enemy drones was recorded flying, in particular towards the Izmail region. Air defense forces were already working in the region.
According to the AFU Air Force, the drones flew from the waters of the Black Sea. The occupants attacked in waves - mainly towards Izmail and Kiliya.
Closer to four in the morning, Kiper emphasized that for almost two hours the enemy had been sending attack drones to the south of the region - Izmail district. Subsequently, a group of UAVs was also recorded in the Kiliya district.
"Once again I ask residents and guests to be in shelters until the air alert goes off! This is a matter of your life and health! Our guys are working. Do not film or post their work. Must take care of each other," he urged.
Local Telegram channels were reporting explosions in the region. The attack continued even after five in the morning. Then there was a report about the alleged arrival of "Shahed" of the Russian occupiers on the territory of Romania, bordering the Odessa region of Ukraine.
"Rejection of the threat of strike UAVs in the Odessa region. Reminder! Do not publicize the work of air defense! Official information on the number and types of downed aerial targets will be published after the generalization of data," the AFU noted at 05:38.
After seven in the morning, the head of the joint coordination press center of the Defense Forces of the south, Natalia Gumenyuk, in the air of the telethon confirmed the arrival in Odessa region as a result of the night attack of the Russian Federation, which lasted more than three hours.
"Civilian infrastructure has been affected, there are damaged buildings. About victims are not yet known," - she noted.
OVA head Oleg Kiper specified that the massive night attack by Shaheds lasted 3.5 hours and targeted civilian infrastructure in the south of Odessa region. According to him, the air defense forces shot down at least 17 drones, but there were also hits.
Thus, warehouse and production buildings, agricultural machinery and equipment of industrial enterprises were damaged in several settlements of Izmail district. Also, several fires broke out on the territory of civilian facilities due to the falling debris of downed UAVs.
"As of 07:00 the fire has been extinguished. Once again I emphasize that in times of danger it is very important to be in shelter. Thanks to the conscious residents of the Izmail district. There are no dead or injured as a result of the night raid. All relevant services continue to work on the site. Law enforcers record the crimes of the Russians", - he said.
