The Russian occupation army continues to intensify its attacks in eastern Ukraine in an attempt to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses. Over the past day alone, 72 combat engagements took place on the frontline.

The most active fighting continues in the Novopavlivka and Avdiivka sectors. This is stated in the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of the morning of March 18.

Over the past day, Russian troops launched 14 missile and 75 air strikes, fired 95 MLRS at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, civilians were killed and wounded.

On March 17, Russian occupants also attacked Ukraine using 22 Shahed drones. The Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 17 of these attack drones.

The settlements of Lukashivka in Chernihiv region; Velyka Pysarivka, Popivka, Oleksandrivka, Luhivka in Sumy region and the regional center; Vovchansk, Hoptivka, Basove in Kharkiv region; Netaylove, Novoselivka Persha, Shakhtarske, Makarivka, Staromayorske in Donetsk region; and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region were hit by air strikes. About 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

The situation in the Volyn and Polissya sectors remains unchanged.

On the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy maintains military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of our troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk sector, the enemy made two unsuccessful assaults on the positions of the Defense Forces near the town of Synkivka in Kharkiv region.

In the Lyman sector, our troops repelled 3 enemy attacks near Rozdolivka, Donetsk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops.

In the Bakhmut sector, our defenders repelled 8 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Ivanivske and Klishchiyivka, Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 13 enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Orlivka, Oleksandropil and Nevelske in Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka and Pobeda in Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defense of our troops 36 times.

In the Orikhivsk sector, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 7 times near Robotyne and northwest of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson sector, the enemy does not abandon its intention to drive our units from the footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Three assaults on Ukrainian troops' positions were made yesterday.

At the same time, our soldiers continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire front line.

The aviation of the Defense Forces struck 6 areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment. Missile units struck 3 areas of enemy concentration.

As a reminder, there were explosions in Mykolaiv on March 17. At that time, an air alert was declared for a number of regions of Ukraine due to the threat of enemy use of ballistic weapons. At least 9 people were injured and one person died.

Earlier it was reported that on the night of March 18, the Russian occupation forces launched a cynical missile attack on a fire station in Kharkiv region. A rescuer was injured as a result of the war criminals' actions.
