The occupants moved dozens of helicopters to the Berdyansk airfield: the reason was named. Satellite photos

With the beginning of the counterattack operation by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Zaporizhzhya direction, Russian troops moved 20 military helicopters to an airfield in the temporarily occupied city of Berdyansk. In total, there are at least 27 units of such equipment of the Russian Federation.

This is evidenced by satellite images of Planet Labs for June 13, which are at the disposal of the Radio Svoboda "Schemes" project. It is noted that journalists managed to identify helicopter models. Among them:

- 5 Ka-52 helicopters;

- 9 Mi-8 or Mi-24 helicopters;

- 13 Ka-29 helicopters.

According to the material, aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchinskiy explained that the purpose of most of the planes is to support the Russian ground forces and strengthen protection against counterattacks by the AFU. Also the Mi-8 can be used for evacuation, but, most likely, they are also used for rapid redeployment of the military or equipment closer to the battlefield.

For his part, military expert Mykhailo Zhirokhov concluded from satellite images that the Berdyansk airfield is now used as an operational airfield for deployment of Russian army aviation units based in the occupied Crimea. He explained that such a need by the occupants is due to the fact that effective support for ground troops is impossible if helicopters are based remotely.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the AFU reported on June 14 that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have partial success as a result of the offensive operation at Berdyansk. Over the past three days, our troops have advanced in some areas from 200 meters to 1.4 kilometers and liberated about 3 square kilometers of territory. Heavy fighting is currently taking place near the villages of Makarivka, Novodanylivka and Novopokrovka in the Berdiansk sector.

As OBOZREVATEL reported:

- Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that the situation at the front is dynamic both in terms of defense and offensive. The defense forces are carrying out various actions;

- Ukrainian troops during the offensive operation in the past 24 hours advanced in three directions. Fierce fighting continues, the enemy is doing everything to hold the captured positions.
