Russian occupation forces are not abandoning their plans to capture Kurakhove. Soldiers of the 79th Air Assault Brigade continue to effectively defend strategically important positions in the Kurakhove sector, preventing the enemy from advancing.

This is what Orest Drymalovskyi, a spokesman for the brigade's press service, told Kyiv24 TV channel. Ukrainian defenders are not only performing combat missions to repel Russian aggression, but also controlling the approaches to the village of Kostiantynivka, located in the Marinka community.

This village is an important point on the way to Vuhledar and Kurakhove, as it is the route that opens the way to both cities.

"The 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade is performing combat missions to repel Russian aggression in the Kurakhove sector of the frontline. Moreover, our soldiers are holding the approaches to the village of Kostiantynivka in the Marinka community. This is the way to two major cities in Donbas, Vuhledar and Kurakhove. The Russians are rushing to this village because the highway that leads from Marinka to Vuhledar passes through this village," said Drymalovskyi.

He explained that control over this territory will give them the opportunity to advance to Vuhledar and strike at the rear of the Ukrainian forces. They are actively shelling the area with artillery and conducting air strikes. However, the 79th Brigade is bravely holding back the enemy, not allowing them to break through.

"The Russians are rushing there, shelling the city with artillery and carrying out air strikes. In other words, the brigade is like a bone in the throat of the Russian command in this area because it does not allow the enemy to advance in a strategically important direction," added Drymalovskyi.

It is worth noting that Russian occupation forces tried to land in the Kurakhove direction but were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders. At the same time, the Russians are moving in small groups here, trying to accumulate forces for an offensive.

As a reminder, the day before, total enemy combat losses in manpower amounted to 1 ,200 people. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed three tanks, 23 armored combat vehicles, 23 artillery systems, one MLRS, an air defense system, 84 operational and tactical UAVs, 57 vehicles and two units of special equipment of the occupiers.
