Russian occupants continue intensive offensive actions at the Kupyansk and Bakhmut directions. The invaders are trying to advance towards the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region, and Kupiansk in Kharkiv region is their target.
Meanwhile, the invaders are regrouping in the Liman sector: Russia plans to resume attacks there. The situation in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Joint Forces Operation was described by the commander of the Land Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to him, particularly fierce fighting in the Bakhmut sector is taking place near Bohdanivka. Moreover, Russians are trying to advance in the direction of Chasovyi Yar.

And in the Liman sector, where the enemy suffered significant losses, Russian troops are regrouping. They are preparing for offensive actions. At the same time, the Russians are actively using aviation in the above-mentioned direction and striking with guided aerial bombs.

Syrsky added that in the areas where Russia is trying to advance, the occupiers are increasing the use of equipment to support infantry assault operations. The invaders are using Storm Z and Storm V assault units, formed mainly of criminals recruited in Russian prisons and colonies, to carry out the attacks. Reserves from other parts of the frontline are being redeployed to the above-mentioned areas.
"Despite the difficult conditions, our soldiers are bravely holding the line and preventing the enemy from advancing. The command and control bodies at all levels are constantly working to develop solutions aimed primarily at anticipating the enemy's actions, conducting effective counter-battery combat, destroying the occupiers' reserves on their way to advance and saving the lives of our servicemen," emphasized Syrskyi.
As a reminder, on the morning of January 3, the General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced in the area of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia, and the enemy was forced to abandon some positions. The occupants are also trying to drive Ukrainian soldiers from a bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson region.
Meanwhile, in the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian troops slightly "improved the tactical situation" in the area of Novobakhmutivka.
