Users are moved to tears: commander visits the grave of a fallen subordinate. Video

The commander visits the grave of a fallen soldier

A heartbreaking video of a commander who traveled from Donetsk region to visit the grave of his comrade-in-arms who died in battle has been posted online. Ihor Yurasov, a 33-year-old grenade launcher from Volyn, died near Bakhmut on June 10, 2023.

The footage shows the commander bending his knee in front of the grave of his subordinate and crying. The video was posted by the Hero's sister.

"Your commander from the east has arrived. As he said, 'Finally, I was able to come to you'," the woman wrote.

She also showed a screenshot of a message from the commander, where he confessed, "His death tore off half of me."

Ihor Yurasov went to war in October 2022. He was killed near the village of Blahodatne in the Donetsk region on June 10, 2023. While performing a combat mission, he received a fatal mine wound.

The Hero's beloved wife and little son were waiting for him at home: the day before his father's funeral, he turned 2 years old.

"Ihor Yurasov, call sign 'Samets', proved to be a true leader from the very first days. Decisive, proactive, with pronounced organizational skills. He was eager to learn, skillfully able to use all the firearms available at our military training center. I wanted him to be a squad leader almost right away. However, Ihor always repeated, 'I don't want to be a leader, but I will stand with the guys to the end.' Very quickly, the guys began to warm up to Ihor, he was a man of authority. When the question arose of a group commander to consolidate on new frontiers, no one doubted that 'Samets' was the right man. In everyday life, he behaved like a hospitable host. A loyal comrade, a reliable brother-in-arms, a leader," the commander recalled.
