"The lull is only temporary": Syrsky explained what is happening on the Bakhmut direction. Map
On the Bakhmut direction at the front, the military situation has changed slightly in recent days. The Russian occupiers have reduced their active actions, but increased the number of shelling.
The military understands that this lull in the enemy offensive is only temporary. The commander of the Ground Forces of the AFU, Oleksandr Syrsky, said this in a commentary for "UP".
According to him, amid a decrease in any active actions, Russian troops are stepping up shelling of the territory with heavy weapons. The invaders mainly use artillery and mortars.
"At first glance it seems that the enemy has given up continuing offensive actions in this direction, but this impression does not correspond to reality," Syrsky pointed out.
He explained that Russian troops have only temporarily changed the format of their offensive operation. This is associated with the withdrawal of units of PMC Wagner and their replacement by the army and airborne units of the regular army of the Russian Federation.
Therefore, says the colonel-general, the current situation may give the impression of a lull, but unfortunately it is temporary.
Syrsky added that today the units of the aggressor country's army are trying to seize the initiative around Bakhmut in order to prevent counterattacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces and to launch another offensive themselves.
At the same time, the commander of the AFU Ground Forces stressed that over the past few days our defenders had halted their advance on the flanks in the Bakhmut direction.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on the eve of the deputy head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar also noted that on the Bakhmut direction the AFU has suspended the advance of the flanks to perform other tasks. According to her, there the occupants moved to the defense and increased the number of shelling.
