Russia's innovative radar system did not even last a week on active duty

The AFU destroyed the innovative Predel-E Russian radar station with a missile strike in Zaliznyi Port in the Kherson region. The Russian Federation's newest "no-analog" technology did not even last a week on combat duty.

This was reported by the dosye_shpiona Telegram channel citing information from its sources. The author of the channel, who is an employee of one of the intelligence services, also published a photo of the destroyed radar system (to see the photo and video, scroll to the end of the page).

"This type of equipment is a relatively modern development focused on detecting small vessels and unmanned surface vehicles," the author noted.

This radar system will enter service with the Russian Federation in 2023.

It is noted that the urgency of using this complex emerged after successful attacks by Ukrainian Forces on the Crimean Bridge and Russian vessels, who used surface drones packed with explosives.

As the author of the channel emphasized, citing sources, Predel-E was on combat duty for only a week, after which it was hit by a missile.

The cost of one such radar station is 200 million dollars.

Predel-E is designed to equip posts of the coastal monitoring surface and air system at distances exceeding the radio horizon.

The characteristics of the station itself remain classified. According to the available information by Russian media, which has quite an exaggerated description of this system, the Predel-E radar works by "anomalous propagation of radio waves occurring directly in the driving layer of the atmosphere in the so-called 'vaporization waveguide'." At the same time, the claimed radius of target detection is 400 km.

A video of the destruction of the Predel-E Russian mobile coastal over-the-horizon detection radar in Zaliznyi Port also appeared online.

The missile, judging by the video, detonated in the air. It is difficult to identify this highly accurate means of defeat from the footage. However, the same missile that recently hit the S-400 SAM system at Cape Tarkhankut in Crimea was probably used to destroy the Predel-E.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system was destroyed in Crimea on August 23 using a new modern Ukrainian missile. The development proved to be "absolutely flawless."
