France has completed training the first group of Ukrainian pilots on Alphajet jet attack aircraft. After completing the training, they are to go to a training center in Romania.

The French Armed Forces announced the completion of the training on September 20. A photo of the Ukrainian pilots' "graduation" was also published.

The French Armed Forces have expressed strong support for Ukraine's military efforts.

"France has just completed the training of the first class of Ukrainian pilots at Alphajet," the statement said.

The ministry added that the French Aerospace Forces center has been training pilots to meet the operational needs of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry since March 2024.

As a reminder, the French Air Force has pledged to train 26 Ukrainian pilots in two years. According to media reports, ten pilots have been training since March.

Some of them had never flown before, while others had experience flying L-39 Albatros training aircraft.

After several months of training in the United Kingdom, including English language classes, the group of pilots arrived in France in March to begin their theoretical and practical training.

For flight training, pilots are using modified Alphajet jet trainers provided by Belgium, equipped with a dashboard that mimics the one used in American F-16 fighters.

To ensure the proper operation of these aircraft and the start of training flights, the French Air Force had to stop the process of decommissioning them at the last minute.

After completing the training, Ukrainian pilots were to go to a training center in Romania.
