The enemy is running out of breath, but massive shelling continues: they told about the occupants' attacks in Avdiivka

Over the past week, Russian troops have become more active in the Avdiivka sector, attempting to storm the city many times. However, there are now signs that the enemy is slowly running out of steam, and there are fewer assaults.

The intensity of the shelling has also decreased to some extent, although the Russians continue to hit the town with various types of weapons. The head of the Avdiivka city military administration, Vitaliy Barabash, spoke about the situation in Avdiivka on October 15 during a telethon.

According to him, on the sixth day of particularly intense fighting for Avdiivka and numerous attempts by the enemy to capture the town, it is too early to say that it is completely exhausted. However, certain signs that the degree of tension is somewhat decreasing have been recorded over the past day.

"To be honest, the degree has been decreasing since yesterday. Not by much, not very much, but it is noticeable that they are already exhausted. In my opinion, there are 15% fewer assault actions," noted Barabash.

He also noted a certain decrease in the intensity of shelling. However, it is too early to talk about the silence: the Russians continue to use almost all types of weapons they have to attack the city.

On October 14, the head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration emphasized, 18 attacks were recorded in the city. At the same time, a few days ago Avdiivka was shelled more than 30 times a day.

"They are using everything: a cannon, Grad, mortars, guided aerial bombs. One fragment had a marking dated August 2023," he added.

Earlier, Vitaliy Barabash, head of Avdiivka's city military administration, said that the occupiers had set a new date for reaching the borders of Donetsk Oblast. According to him, the Russians are simply wiping Avdiivka off the map.

Meanwhile, The Economist published an article explaining the intensification of the invaders near Avdiivka by Russia's desire to turn the tide of the fighting. The journalists emphasized that the battle for Avdiivka will have an impact on Ukraine's offensive regardless of the results achieved by the occupation forces. The Russian assault on Avdiivka will further limit the ability of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to make a breakthrough in the south before the onset of winter.
