The enemy entered the western and eastern parts of Vuhledar: Zhurets assessed the situation and pointed out threats

Russian invaders entered Vuhledar from the west and east. Ukrainian forces are currently holding the defense in the city center.

The enemy's frontal and flank attacks are making it extremely difficult to supply the garrison in Vuhledar and to withdraw Ukrainian forces from the town. Serhii Zhurets, director of Defense Express information and consulting company and editor-in-chief of the portal of the same name, spoke about the situation on Espresso TV channel.

"Currently, the situation in Vuhledar is the most informative and hot area in terms of assessment, analysis, and attempts to forecast. According to the latest information, the enemy has entered the western and eastern parts of Vuhledar, while the Ukrainian side is defending the central part. The enemy launched frontal and flanking attacks that made it difficult to hold our contingent in the city," noted Zhurets.

He reminded that over the past two years, Vuhledar has been held by the soldiers of the 72nd Brigade. Since the city is located on a hill, the defenders could notice the enemy's advance in advance and destroy the enemy with artillery and drones.

Now the situation for the defenders has become more complicated because the Russians have taken fire control of a road that could be used to withdraw Ukrainian forces if the situation deteriorates further.

"Currently, the map shows that a pocket has been formed where the road from Vuhledar to Bohoyavlenka runs, which is to be used for the withdrawal of our military. The area of this road is within one kilometer. Yesterday our military said that logistics and withdrawal are extremely difficult due to the narrow corridor," emphasized Zhurets.

Currently, fierce fighting is taking place in and around the city to ensure that the defenders of Vuhledar can withdraw to the north and west, where a new defense line will be built.

The day before, Zhurets said that the fighting in Vuhledar was ongoing, and the Ukrainian 72nd Brigade was holding its ground in extremely difficult circumstances. However, Ukrainian units will likely be forced to retreat from Vuhledar over time due to excessive threats.
