"The cruelty of war has reached a new level": after the shelling of Okhmatdyt, Orban calls on Ukraine and Russia to hold peace talks

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban commented on the Russian criminal shelling of the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv in a very peculiar way. He did not name the perpetrator of the attack on the medical facility, but once again called on Ukraine and Russia to engage in peace talks.

Orban said it was a "tragic and horrific terrorist attack" that he could have foreseen. However, the pro-Russian politician did not express his condolences to the dead and wounded and did not even condemn the fact of the shelling.

"Yesterday's tragic and disgusting attack in Kyiv proves that our fears were justified: as expected, the brutality of the Russian-Ukrainian war has reached a new level. That is why we launched a peacekeeping mission nine days ago," Orban said.

The Hungarian prime minister did not explain who exactly this "we" is. Either he is referring to himself in the plural, or he is referring to himself in the plural, but 9 days ago Orban personally visited Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy. And it was not difficult for Orban to predict the Russian attack on Ukraine's largest children's hospital, given that the Hungarian had visited Moscow before.

"The growing intensity of the war is a call to the world powers to abandon their military policy and instead create a policy of peace, to direct Russia and Ukraine to a ceasefire and peace talks. This is the only way to avoid further bloodshed," Orban added.

Peace in Ukraine has nothing to do with it.
