Russians in Crimea frightened by attacks on Crimean bridge

On the afternoon of 12 August, explosions were reported twice in the temporarily occupied Crimea near the Crimean Bridge. Traffic across the object built by the occupiers was blocked three times, and they tried to hide the bridge itself behind a "smoke screen".

The sight of the smoke-covered symbol of the Russian occupation of Crimea frightened Russian tourists, who, despite the regular "cotton", continue to travel to the Ukrainian peninsula. The reaction of Russians was caught on video.

The footage shows a crowd of half-naked holidaymakers on a Crimean beach watching smoke rise over the Crimean bridge. Some people record the still-existing object on video for history.

A voice-over is heard describing the Russians' assessment of what is happening in the occupied Ukrainian Crimea after the start of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.

"It's just f*cked up," a woman's voice says in a desperate, drawn-out tone.

As a reminder, explosions occurred in Kerch at around 1pm on 12 August. Traffic across the Crimean Bridge was blocked, and the occupiers blew smoke to hide it from the "missiles of the Kyiv regime".

No sooner had the invaders claimed that the attack had been repelled than at least eight explosions were heard in the same area around 3pm. The story repeated itself: Russian air defence systems were operating again, the bridge was enveloped in smoke, and the occupiers stopped traffic for the third time in 24 hours.

After both attacks, the invaders claimed to have shot down "recycled S-200 missiles", though they could not agree on their number. According to the "head of the Crimean government" Sergei Aksyonov, a total of three missiles were allegedly shot down, while the Russian Ministry of Defence limited the number to two, one during each attack.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already issued threats against Ukraine, stating that the Crimean bridge, which is the main logistical route for the Russian army and through which the occupiers constantly transport personnel, equipment, weapons and fuel to Ukraine, is a "purely civilian facility". However, they threatened that a "terrorist attack" on it by Ukraine "will not remain unanswered".
