Situation is stable: the Navy explains why Russia rarely uses "Kalibr" systems

The situation in the Black Sea remains stable. Currently, the Russian command keeps its ships at a certain distance and rarely takes them to the open sea to use "Kalibr" missiles to strike at the territory of Ukraine.

This was reported by the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, during an all-Ukrainian telethon. "We can say that the situation remains stable. The sea trips are quite short, and they are generally not observed. In more than six months, we have two confirmed cases of cruise missile use. Therefore, I am not ready to say that the situation is changing," Pletenchuk said.

He also noted that Russian missile carriers do not go to sea because they are afraid of losing them and being destroyed. The Ukrainian Navy spokesman also added that this is why they are in the harbor. At the same time, Russia's production of cruise missiles does not stop.

"The harbor is closed, the entrance to it is actually blocked, and yes, of course, the military-industrial complex has been working all this time, and most likely they are still producing these missiles. Of course, they will have to solve the logistical problems in Novorossiysk at some point. The main problem is the lack of cranes that can load these "Kalibr" missiles. However, to use them, especially on a massive scale, we need to go to sea. And we need to go to the appropriate areas from which the launches should take place," he explained.

Pletenchuk added that the last "Kalibr" launches by the occupiers were carried out from a submarine.

"These submarines cannot leave the water area, so we can say that they are "locked" here," he added.

The Navy spokesman also recently said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet has lost a third of its ships and that all types of ships were destroyed: not only the flagship, but also patrol vessels, large amphibious assault ships, and a submarine.
