Kyiv says goodbye to Iryna Tsybukh

On June 2, Kyiv will say goodbye to journalist and paramedic of the Hospitallers, Iryna Tsybukh. The defender, nicknamed "Cheka," died on May 29 in the north of Kharkiv region.

In a few days, on June 1, Iryna would have turned 26. OBOZ.UA publishes photos from the funeral.

On June 2, Kyiv is holding a memorial service for Iryna "Cheka" Tsybukh, who will be 25 years old forever. Relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms and Ukrainians who did not know Iryna, but felt it necessary to pay their last respects to the defender who gave her life for Ukraine.

The farewell began at St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral. Those present had the opportunity to approach the coffin with the body of the defender covered with the national flag and say goodbye to her.

After the funeral service in the church, a public memorial service was planned for Independence Square. It was attended by a huge number of people: according to an OBOZ.UA correspondent, several thousand Ukrainians were in the mourning cortege accompanying the coffin with Irina's body to the memorial service.

The Maidan accompanied Iryna Tsybukh on her last journey with a multi-voiced singing. This is how those who attended the farewell ceremony fulfilled the defender's dying wish. In case of her death, she left a wish for the farewell ceremony: embroidery or camouflage instead of black clothes. She would have wanted to replace flowers with donations to the Hospitallers and assistance to the families of the victims. She also asked that those attending her funeral not cry but sing Ukrainian songs.

"I want everyone to sing at the farewell to extinguish the sorrow with their native singing," she wrote.

As a reminder, the death of Iryna Tsybukh became known on May 30, the day after the young defender fought her last battle .

Later, the heroine's brother published her posthumous letter. Knowing that death could be waiting for her at the front at any moment, the girl wrote this letter back in April in case the irreparable happened.
