"Russia's single achievement for the winter offensive is the destruction of Bakhmut": ex-CIA director expressed admiration for Ukrainian resilience
The only "achievement" of the Russian occupation troops during the winter offensive was the destruction and capture of the town of Bakhmut. At the same time, the Ukrainian military stunned the whole world when it won the battle for Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv and recaptured Kherson.
This was stated by General David Petraeus, a member of the Kyiv Security Forum and former CIA director. He also noted that the Russian army lost at least 25,000 soldiers during the capture of Bakhmut.
"The only achievement of the Russian troops for the winter offensive is the destruction of the town of Bakhmut and its capture at the cost of the lives of 25 thousand soldiers," Petraeus emphasized.
He also added that he admires the Ukrainian people, who showed their incredible ability to mobilize and resist the enemy from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion.
"The whole world is watching your country and admires you. The way Ukrainians have mobilized as a people is second to none. I am fascinated by the patriotism and endurance of the Ukrainian people," Petraeus emphasized.
Heavy fighting continues in the Bakhmut direction. Ukrainian Defense Forces are succeeding in the area of the village of Klischiivka. This was stated by the head of the press service of the Eastern grouping of the AFU troops Iliia Yevlash.
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Maliar said that the process of the Ukrainian counter-offensive is developing quite dynamically and actively. Ukrainians should take into account that the offensive is a long process, not a "sit down and drive forward" operation, considering all the conditions.
