Russian losses in Zaporizhzhia have increased significantly in recent days. The military of the aggressor country is likely to face a shortage of combat-ready units that could be deployed to this area of the front.

This was reported on September 19 by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Analysts noted that the Russian Armed Forces tried to conduct counterattacks in the southern section of the front near Robotyne, which exhausted them.

In particular, the 7th Guards Mountain Air Assault Division and the 76th Guards Air Assault Division tried to recapture the positions. "These operations have likely led to the degradation of these airborne troops," the report says.

The experts also said that Russian Storm-Z units are often ineffective in combat and are likely to be of little help to Russian defense in Zaporizhzhia.

The ISW added that on September 19, the Ukrainian defenders conducted offensive operations in the western Zaporizhzhia region, advancing. This is proved by geo-referenced footage showing that the Defense Forces advanced west of the village of Verbove.

At the same time, analysts believe that Ukrainian forces also conducted an offensive near the border of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions on September 19, but failed to advance.
