Russian volunteers in the Belgorod region used equipment taken from Putin's army: DIU discloses details

Raid by the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion in the Belgorod region

During the raid into the Belgorod region, the Russians from the Russian Volunteer Corps did not have any US equipment or weapons handed over to them by Ukraine. The use of equipment and weapons provided to the Ukrainian army is strictly controlled by partner countries.

The equipment seen in the video of Russian volunteers from the Belgorod region was once seized by the occupiers on different frontlines, and the fighters of the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion took it back from the invaders. This was stated by a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Andriy Chernyak, in an interview with Radio Liberty.

According to Chernyak, the Russian volunteers who raided the territory of Russia on May 22 were not handed over any equipment or weapons provided to Ukraine by Western partners.

"There are very clear mechanisms to control the weapons that were transferred to Ukraine. It was transferred exclusively for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, i.e. the regular units of the Ukrainian army. Such checks and control are also carried out by representatives of the countries that provided the weapons. Not a single weapon provided by our partners was transferred to the Russian Volunteer Corps," Chernyak assured.

Those pieces of Western equipment that can be seen in the videos released by Russian volunteers following the raid, as well as in the footage of the Russian Ministry of Defence, were actually taken back from the occupiers who had seized them earlier by Russians fighting on the side of Ukraine.

"The equipment used by the Russian Volunteer Corps was seized from the Russians, who at one time, as a result of the fighting, got it somewhere near Bakhmut or in other areas, you know? The Russians seized the equipment and the Russian Volunteer Corps, again, took it back from them," the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine representative stressed.

As a reminder, on May 22, Russian volunteers fighting on the side of Ukraine conducted a new raid into the territory of the Russian Federation. Soldiers of the Russian Volunteer Corps showed videos from one village in Belgorod Oblast and two settlements in Bryansk Oblast. And the Freedom of Russia Legion announced that it was time to liberate Russia from the "Kremlin's dictatorship" and said that "the legion is coming home".

Later, the Russian Volunteer Corps disclosed the details of the raid in the Belgorod region. According to the Russian volunteers fighting for Ukraine, the main goal is to transfer the fighting to the territory of the Russian Federation. In the recent raid, the volunteers set themselves the task of destroying enemy forces, testing the strength of the border with Russia and conducting sabotage and reconnaissance work.

Meanwhile, Russia claimed to have killed 70 participants in the raid. The Russian Volunteer Corps exposed the Russian fake, pointing out that the footage of the bodies of the "killed saboteurs" shows people in "pixelated" uniforms, while Russian volunteers wear "cartoon" uniforms.

On May 25, the Russian Volunteer Corps showed a new video from Glotovo, Belgorod region, noting that they had decided to make periodic raids on their homeland a "good tradition". They did not specify when the video was filmed.
