Russian troops launch unprecedented attacks on Avdiivka: civilians killed, Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy about 60 enemy vehicles. Video and map

At least two people were killed

Russian occupants began a massive offensive in the area of Avdiivka, Donetsk region. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed more than 60 pieces of enemy equipment. This is a kind of breakthrough for our defenders, as it has never happened before in this area.

At the same time, civilians were killed during the occupants' assault. This was stated by the head of Avdiivka city military administration Vitaliy Barabash on the air of the national telethon "United News" (to watch the video and map, scroll to the bottom of the page).

"The situation remains very tense. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, it has never been used like this. Indeed, yesterday they went on the offensive en masse. At about 3 o'clock they started massive shelling of the positions around the city. Both from the north and the south, and the "gate" itself was also shelled. It was previously announced that about 50 pieces of equipment went on the offensive yesterday, but we actually know that more than 60 pieces of equipment were hit in our direction. An airplane was shot down, an Mi-8 helicopter was shot down," said Barabash.

The occupants started to attack the city even more at 5:30-6:00. They used 2,000 personnel and dozens of armored vehicles for the offensive, much of which the Armed Forces have already destroyed.

Earlier, Russian troops attacked with 20-25 pieces of equipment.

In addition to Avdiivka, the enemy is currently attacking near Tonenke, Keramik and Pervomayske. This was reported by the spokesman for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Andriy Kovalev.

"Russians with two thousand soldiers have been storming Avdiivka for two days. Starting from about 3 p.m. today, they fired at the positions of Ukrainian soldiers around the city, later in the evening they started to hit Avdiivka itself (about 10 missiles have already hit the city), at least two people were killed," he said.

The enemy is intensively shelling the positions of the Defense Forces with tanks, MLRS, mortars, cannon artillery, and strikes with kamikaze drones and aircraft. However, the State Border Guard Service and the Armed Forces continue to hold their positions and repel the invaders' attacks.

Colonel Oleksandr Stupun, spokesman for the Tavria group of troops, said that Ukraine's defenders repelled all enemy attacks in the Avdiivka sector. There were no losses of lines or positions there.

"Fighting continues, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria separate motorized brigade the enemy is conducting offensive actions with the strength of about three battalions, supported by a large number of tanks and other armored vehicles. In particular, it is recorded in the areas of Avdiivka, Tonenke, Keramik and Pervomayske... All enemy attacks have been repelled so far, our soldiers have not allowed any losses of borders and positions," he added, emphasizing that the situation is currently under control, but the fighting continues.

Meanwhile, there are still more than a thousand residents in the town who do not want to leave. Although there is almost nothing left of the town.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, Russia has launched a major offensive on Avdiivka, another of the defining battles of the war with Russia, which may become more fierce than the battle for Vuhledar in winter, as the occupiers can use the dense buildings of Donetsk and Yasynuvata for covert actions.
