Russian troops intensified their activities in the Kharkiv region and Donbas: Defence forces repelled 17 enemy attacks - General Staff

Over the past day, Russian occupation forces intensified attacks in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. A total of 17 combat engagements took place on the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Maryinka frontlines.

This is stated in the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook on May 25. On the Siversky and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy continues to maintain a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Russian shelling

At night, the Russian Federation launched another massive attack on Ukrainian territory using Iranian Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs. 36 out of 36 were destroyed by our defenders.

In total, during this day, the enemy launched 2 missile strikes from S-300 surface-to-air missile systems at the civilian infrastructure of the village of Tsyrkuny in the Kharkiv region, damaging a private house. In addition, the enemy carried out 48 air strikes and fired about 10 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

On the Seversky and Slobozhansky directions, the occupants fired mortars and artillery at the following localities: Hai, Kamianska Sloboda in the Chernihiv region; Khodyno, Volodymyrivka, Oleksandrivka, Velyka Pysarivka in the Sumy region; and Strelka, Chervone, Cherkaski Tyshky, Lukiantsi, Neskuchne, Ternova, Vovchansk, Chuhunivka, Domashne in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupyansk sector, the enemy continues to try to improve the tactical situation. It carried out air strikes near Chaikivka and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region. During the day, it conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Masiutivka. The settlements of Topoli, Figolovka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Masiutivka, Zakhidne, Kyslivka in the Kharkiv region and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region came under artillery and mortar fire from the enemy.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Bilohorivka and also conducted air strikes near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, and Ivano-Daryivka, Donetsk region. Makiivka, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Ivanivka, Torske, Verkhnekamyane and Spirne in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut sector, the enemy continued to conduct offensive actions in the area of Bakhmut over the last day. Vasyukivka, Pryvillia, Orikhove-Vasylivka, Grigorivka, Bakhmut, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Stupochki, Predtechine, Kostyantynivka, Bila Gora, and Pivnichne in the Donetsk region suffered from enemy shelling.

In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the direction of Krasnohorivka. It conducted air strikes in the area of Avdiivka. He fired artillery at Avdiivka, Pervomaiske and Karlivka in the Donetsk region.

In the Maryinka sector, Ukrainian defence forces repelled numerous enemy attacks near the town of Maryinka. However, the Russians attacked the air force in the area of Maryinka and shelled the settlements of Maryinka and Pobeda in the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy shelled Vuhledar and Prechystivka, among others.

In the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson sectors, the enemy continues to conduct defensive actions. It carried out air strikes in the areas of Olgivske, Gulyaypol, Novodanilovka in Zaporizhzhia region and Novoberislav in Kherson region. It shelled Zelene Pole, Olgivske, Malynivka, Gulyaypole, Gulyaypilske, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Shcherbaki, Stepove, Kamianske and Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhzhia region; Zolota Balka, Novooleksandrivka, Havrylivka, Vesele, Kozatske, Lviv, Vysoontsi, Bilozerka, Antonivka, Veletynske in the Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

Russia's losses in the war over the day

Over the past 24 hours, the Defence Forces' aviation carried out 4 strikes on areas where enemy personnel and military equipment were concentrated, and missile and artillery units hit 2 areas where manpower was concentrated, 1 ammunition depot, 1 radar station and an enemy artillery unit at firing positions.

Also, according to the General Staff, the occupiers militarised the island of Dzharylgach, which on May 19 was connected to the temporarily seized mainland of Kherson region near the village of Lazurne. In particular, Putin's troops deployed about 300 Russian servicemen and 15 foreign-made boats stolen from the local population on the island.

- On May 25, Ukraine returned 106 of its soldiers home. All of the 8 officers and 98 soldiers and sergeants released from captivity took part in the battles in the Bakhmut direction, more than half of them were considered missing;

- the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed a strike on the Ivan Khurs vessel, which was conducting a reconnaissance mission in the Bosphorus Strait. At least one of the three maritime drones sent to attack the enemy ship reached its target.
