Russian troops have not given up their intentions to seize Kupiansk: AFU named aggressor's main goal

Russian troops have not abandoned their intention to capture Kupiansk

The Russian occupation army continues to attempt an assault in the Kupiansk sector. Russian troops want to capture the district center for the second time to create a foothold for further advancement into Ukraine.

The enemy has resumed active hostilities in this area of the front since early October. Volodymyr Fitio, head of the public relations service of the Land Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the national TV marathon.

According to him, the Russians are planning to use Kupiansk as a springboard for a further offensive in the western direction. The representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that Putin's invaders are suffering huge losses in the Kupiansk direction.

At the same time, the enemy continues to move reserves of assault battalions there and thus tries to compensate for the losses. Fitio also noted that Ukrainian defenders repelled 9 enemy attacks near Synkivka on December 15.

During the day, the Russians used kamikaze drones in this area of the frontline twice, as well as made 258 attacks. At the same time, Russian troops suffered serious losses. The Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated hundreds of occupants and burned 14 pieces of enemy military equipment, including 3 tanks. The day before, the enemy lost even more equipment: 9 tanks and 10 armored personnel carriers per day.

"The enemy is actively using both equipment and human resources for the offensive. Of course, they take more care of equipment, but human resources do not play a role for them. They are sending people to assault, reconnaissance by combat, and just meaty assaults, not counting losses," the representative of the Ukrainian Army said.

As a reminder, the Russian army is trying to capture the village of Synkivka in the Kharkiv region with assault companies to create conditions for blocking Kupiansk. The enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower, so it is redeploying assault units that were in reserve to this area.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian invaders are preparing to intensify assault operations in the Kupyansk sector. The Russian command is currently redeploying assault units there and is relying on manpower rather than equipment.
