Russian army uses new tactics in the Black Sea: what is it?
The occupiers announced the creation of a "killer" for Ukrainian naval drones

The Russian occupation forces may have developed a new method of countering Ukrainian capabilities in the Black Sea. This is allegedly evidenced by the recent strike of a Russian drone on a Ukrainian maritime drone.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). There is no confirmation of this from the Ukrainian side, and military analysts refer only to propaganda statements.

In particular, on February 1, Russian pro-war bloggers published footage of a strike, claiming that the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the northwestern part of the Black Sea "destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned boat" heading for the Crimean peninsula. The aggressor country's Defense Ministry said that the occupiers had used a drone to carry out the attack.

According to the propagandists, this unspecified naval facility is capable of carrying a Kronstadt Orion missile. They also boasted that the strike could be "the first documented case of Russian forces using such a facility to deploy drones capable of destroying Ukrainian naval drones.

Another blogger called on the Russian authorities to increase production of weapons similar to the X-UAV (TKB-1030) missiles launched from a drone "to effectively combat the capabilities of Ukrainian naval drones" as it is now "too risky" for Russia to operate helicopters near the Black Sea.

"The Defense Forces have demonstrated their ability to shoot down Russian Mi-8 helicopters operating over the Black Sea with missiles launched from Magura V5 naval drones. And the February 1 strike by the Black Sea Fleet indicates that Russian forces have developed a new method to try to compensate for this adaptation of Ukrainian naval drones," ISW believes.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, earlier the Institute for the Study of War noted that Ukrainian naval drones forced Russia to reduce the number of helicopter flights over the Black Sea. Prior to that, the military indicated that the Defense Forces also began using unmanned boats as "aircraft carriers" to deliver drones.
