Russia triples air attacks on Ukraine in May: UN confirms damage

UN tells of Russian attacks on Ukraine in May

In May, the aggressor country Russia nearly tripled the number of air attacks on Ukraine. We are talking about both missile attacks and kamikaze drone strikes.

Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, said this during a UN Security Council meeting (please scroll to the bottom of the page to see the video). According to her, since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has carried out more than a thousand attacks on educational and medical institutions.

In most cases, the enemy used heavy weapons to do so, DiCarlo added.

UNESCO (a UN agency) has confirmed the losses caused by the Russian attacks to 260 sites. These include 112 religious sites, 22 museums, 94 buildings of historical significance, 19 monuments, 12 libraries and one archive.

During her speech, DiCarlo also expressed concern over the announcement of the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus.

As OBOZREVATEL reported:

- The UN has counted 9,083 dead and 15,779 wounded in Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. Most of the people were killed or injured on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

- The UN has put Russia on a list of shame for killing Ukrainian children and using them as human shields. The Russian occupiers have already killed 136 children.
