On the morning of November 17, the aggressor country Russia launched massive missiles at Ukraine from strategic bombers and ships in the Black Sea, and attacked with kamikaze drones. In Kyiv, the roof of a residential building caught fire due to falling debris, and the consequences of the attack are being recorded in other regions of our country.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and local military administrations. This time, Russia focused on causing maximum damage to the Ukrainian energy system and attacked generating and distribution facilities.

Last night's attack was the most powerful in the last three months. During the massive combined missile and drone strike on Ukrainian cities and, in particular, the capital, the invaders used Kh-101/55 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic aircraft, Kinzhal air defense missiles from MiG-31K, Iskander-M (KN-23) ballistic missiles, Zircon missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea, and attack UAVs.

Almost the entire territory of Ukraine was under attack.

"In the capital, air alert was announced twice and lasted almost 5 hours in total. The Defense Forces detected and destroyed several Kh-101/55 cruise missiles, several Kinzhal airborne ballistic missiles, several Iskander-M (KN-23) ballistic missiles, probably also a Zircon hypersonic missile, and up to a dozen attack UAVs in Kyiv airspace," said  Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

He said that a 5-storey residential building was damaged in the Pechersk district of Kyiv as a result of the enemy attack. In Holosiivsky and Dniprovsky districts, debris fell in the open and on non-residential premises.

"We know for sure about one victim with a head wound, she was hospitalized in a satisfactory condition," Popko added.

A fire broke out in the Lviv region due to the falling debris of a downed Russian missile.

"In one of the districts of the region, as a result of the fall of the enemy missile fragments, there was destruction followed by a fire in the garages. Firefighters are working at the scene," the Lviv State Emergency Service said.

Dnipropetrovs'k region has also been hit: in Dnipro, damage to high-rise buildings and a school has been recorded, and there are consequences in other districts of the region.

"The aggressor attacked Dnipro in the morning. So far, we know about one injured person. A 42-year-old man received shrapnel wounds. He is being provided with all necessary assistance. High-rise buildings, an educational institution and a car were damaged. It was also noisy in Kryvyi Rih, Samarivskyi district and Kamianskyi district. Several fires broke out," said Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, adding that the consequences of the enemy shelling are still being clarified.

Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, provided more details about the Russian attack on the city.

"The enemy hit an infrastructure facility with a missile. The destruction is extensive, but thank God, we do not see any casualties yet. There are damages in the residential sector and two schools. There were emergency shutdowns of boiler houses and pumping stations and several powerful water hammer impacts on water and heat supply networks. Subsequently, Ukrenergo applied emergency shutdowns," he said.

Vilkul emphasized that the emergency shutdowns will continue until they are canceled.

"Hospitals switched to generators. There was a water drawdown, many pumping stations switched to generators, and now we are pressurizing the pipes. Boiler houses are being reconnected. Where there are no high-voltage ones, we switched to generators," he added.

Vilkul also reminded the citizens of the heating points, the residents of Kryvyi Rih can find the nearest one using an interactive map.

In the Volyn region, the occupiers struck at the energy infrastructure.

"Unfortunately, Volyn region was hit during the air raid. The energy infrastructure was damaged. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties. All relevant services are currently working to eliminate the consequences," said Ivan Rudnytsky, head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration.

In Zaporizhzhia, the enemy also attacked critical infrastructure: at least three strikes were made.

"Russians struck three times in Zaporizhzhia. As in the rest of Ukraine, they targeted the critical infrastructure of the region... The extent of the damage is being determined. Wherever possible, emergency services are already working," said Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Later, information about the victims appeared.

"According to the updated information, two people were injured in the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia. A 59-year-old man is in hospital. Doctors are providing all necessary assistance. An 18-year-old boy refused to be hospitalized after being examined by doctors," said Fedorov.

On the morning of November 17, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said that the enemy had targeted the Ukrainian power system. Due to the attack, emergency power outages are being introduced in a number of regions.

"Another massive attack on the power grid is taking place. The enemy is attacking power generation and transmission facilities across Ukraine. The transmission system operator has urgently introduced emergency power outages. Where possible, rescuers and power engineers are already working to eliminate the consequences," he said at 07:30.

In particular, DTEK's thermal power plants were hit by the Russian Federation. The company reported serious damage to its equipment

"Today, the enemy carried out a massive terrorist attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. DTEK's thermal power plants were attacked. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. The attacks severely damaged the plants' equipment. After the shelling ended, the employees of the enterprises promptly began to eliminate the consequences and restore the equipment," DTEK said in a statement.

It added that this is the eighth time since the beginning of the year that DTEK's energy companies have been attacked by Russia. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK's thermal power plants have been shelled more than 190 times.

According to monitoring channels, Tu-95MS bombers took off from the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation at night. In total, up to 17 planes were moving to the launch area. They were flying on a southeast course toward the Caspian region of the Russian Federation.

Later it became known that two groups of such bombers were in the air

- 10 from the Olenya airfield were moving towards the launch positions near Engels;

- 7 from the Engels airfield were moving towards the Tsymlyanskoye reservoir/Caspian Sea.

At about 06:00, the Air Force reported that the aggressor launched missiles from strategic bombers.

"Follow our messages and do not ignore the air raid alerts," the military called.

They also warned of possible Russian launches of Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea. There were four missile-carrying ships with a total volley of up to 24 missiles. At about 07:00, explosions were heard in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Zaporizhzhia.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on November 11, the Russian Federation launched a group of Tu-95MS strategic bombers. Enemy MiG-31Ks, which are carriers of the Kinzhal missiles, were also on the launch line.

As a result, no real launches took place. The departure of such a large number of aircraft turned out to be a large-scale training exercise for Russian aviation. The situation was similar in the morning of November 15.
