Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles

On the morning of December 29, the aggressor country Russia launched missiles against Ukraine. The attack resulted in at least 18 deaths and 132 injuries. Hits were reported in Sumy, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Odesa. Damage caused by falling debris recorded in Dnipro and Kyiv.

The enemy launched about 122 missiles (basically everything except Kalibr ones). The Air Defense Forces destroyed 87 targets. This attack continued in several waves, and air raid alerts were declared in almost all regions of the country twice.

Russia has taken many bombers to the sky

According to monitoring channels, on Friday morning, the enemy took about two dozen bombers to the sky. Residents of those regions where the alert was announced were urged to take shelter immediately.

"Threat of cruise missile launches! Do not ignore the air raid alarms! Go to the shelter!" the Ukrainian Air Force said at 04:57.

At that time, missiles were seen flying in Sumy and Poltava regions, and then explosions were reported in Cherkasy and Kharkiv regions. Air Defense was working.

"There are nine TU-95MS and nine TU-22M3 aircraft in the sky. Two TU-22M3s are in the Voronezh area. Please wake up and take shelter," the post on the Nikolayevky Vanek Telegram channel says.

According to him, the occupiers also launched decoy missiles along with the real ones. At the same time, Kharkiv was under Russian fire from S-300, and Shahed drones continued to fly in the sky over Lviv region.

At 05:35, the Air Force announced that the missile threat had been lifted for all regions except Kharkiv.

After 06:00, reports of enemy missile launches continued. Monitoring channels reported that the enemy was launching X-101/555/55 from Tu-95MS aircraft in the Engels area.

Later, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of ballistic missiles from the south to Dnipro and Pavlohrad, as well as the repeated movement of cruise missiles through Sumy region in the direction of Poltava (Myrhorod).

Consequences of the Russian missile attack

At least 18 people were killed in the massive Russian attack. There are also 132 wounded, including children, the National Police of Ukraine reported around 13:00. According to the military authorities in the affected regions, the number of casualties is higher, namely 19.

Konotop

At 06:44, the Sumy Regional Military Administration confirmed a missile attack on the city of Konotop. Three people were injured, a high-rise building and a service station were damaged, and a car caught fire.

Kharkiv

The city of Kharkiv was under several waves of the enemy's S-300 missiles. Dozens of hits occurred, killing three and injuring 13 locals.

Kyiv

Sviatoshynskyi, Podilskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts came under fire. Civilian infrastructure, cars, and warehouses were damaged in the city. Four people were killed and 21 injured.

Dnipro

The enemy hit a shopping center, killing five people and injuring 28. A maternity hospital was also hit. SES units rescued four patients.

Lviv

An apartment building and infrastructure were damaged in the city as a result of missile attacks. One person was killed and 24 residents of Lviv region were injured.

Odesa

In Odesa, a three-story building has been hit, with people possibly trapped under the rubble. At least two other buildings were damaged in the city. Rescuers rescued 23 people from a 17-story residential building. A total of three people were killed. The number of injured residents of the region has reached 27.

Zaporizhzhia

The occupants attacked infrastructure facilities in Zaporizhzhia: four people were killed and one wounded. A high-rise building, other buildings and a tram were damaged in the city.

Ukrainian Armed Forces spokesman Yurii Ihnat said during the TV marathon that Russia launched everything today except Kalibr cruise missiles.

"The occupants used Kinzhal, ballistic, S-300, cruise, X-22 missiles and UAVs. About 18 strategic bombers launched X-101/X-505 missiles," he listed.

Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Serhii Popko noted that the air raid alert was announced in the capital three times and lasted almost five hours in total. During this time, Air Defense Forces shot down more than three dozen air targets over Kyiv.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the enemy's attack on Ukraine and promised a response. According to him, Russia fired 110 missiles, most of which were shot down by the defenders of the sky.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, said that during massive attacks with drones and missiles at night and in the morning of December 29, the enemy used at least 158 air attack means to strike Ukraine. At first, there were 36 Shahed-136/131 drones. The rest were missiles, 87 of which were destroyed.

As reported, during the kamikaze drone attack on the night of December 28-29, explosions were heard in Lviv. The mayor of the city, Andrii Sadovyi, confirmed two hits in the regional center.
