On the evening of Friday, January 3, a large-scale air alert was announced in Ukraine due to the threat of ballistic missile attacks. In Chernihiv, three explosions occurred during a Russian attack, destroying two private houses, killing one person and injuring four others.

At 16:18, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned of the threat of enemy ballistic missiles from the direction of Kursk and urged not to ignore air raid warnings. At 16:21, it became known about a high-speed target in the Chernihiv region. At the same minute, a powerful explosion occurred in the regional center, an OBOZ.UA correspondent reports.

At 16:37, a second explosion occurred in Chernihiv, and at 16:51 – the third. The explosions were heard throughout the city.

The head of the Chernihiv RMA, Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, informed that a group rocket attack had been launched on the outskirts of the city.

Preliminary, two private houses were destroyed and one civilian was injured, he said as of 17:09.

At 17:45, Viacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that one person was killed in the Russian strike, and there were also injuries. The attack hit a residential area on the outskirts of the city.

"The enemy launched a triple missile attack on residential buildings on the outskirts of Chernihiv. Several houses were heavily damaged. We already know about one dead person. There are wounded. Search and rescue operations are ongoing," the statement said.

The headquarters for the liquidation of the consequences are being deployed at the scene, Bryzhynskyi said at 18:06.

According to the official, at 18:12, the missile attack partially destroyed two residential buildings and damaged the windows of seven residential buildings.

Preliminary, one person was killed and four were injured.

According to monitoring channels, the enemy used three "Iskander-M"/KN-23 ballistic missiles in the Chernihiv region.

"There were three explosions, everything closed, even the ATB. It was very loud," one of the residents of the center of Chernihiv told OBOZ.UA.

The blast wave caused windowpanes to shake in residential buildings. "The whole city heard the explosions, the windows shook at home," another eyewitness told OBOZ.UA.

In addition, at 16:39 and 17:10, the Air Force reported a high-speed target in the Sumy region, in particular in the direction of Kyiv region.

The Air Force also warned about the movement of missiles in the direction of Pavlohrad, Dnipro region.
